No. Admittedly his output thus far has not always been impressive. But he has shown enough to indicate he possesses raw talent. We used to pride ourselves on developing younger players. [I base my opinion solely on TV/video evidence - I haven't been to Oakwell since Feb 2020.]
Have a little read of the comments from 99-9% of Charlton fans.. ranging from 'one of the worst players l've ever seen' and City had there pants pulled down if they paid 3 million for him' 'to waste of a loan'
Poor player, would be crackers to re-sign him IMO. I agree with what others have said, he can’t hide behind the City tag any more. £3m to City is absolute pennies though. That’s not an indication of his value, it’s an indication of how much money they can afford to speculate with.
It would have paid us to hire a chauffeur driven car to bring Norwood in every day, or eve buy him a bloody house
Him and Watters were **** on loan. We must be the only club in the world to have the chance to look at someone for a year, see hes **** and then sign him up for 3 year. Both of them were so far off it. Norwood was ten times player either of them are.
Now Khaleds gone I wonder if we actually could do that and get Norwood back.Pay for his transport if we sell Cole. Two year contract and obviously the transfer fee.Speculate to accumulate,he could be the difference with promotion.
I loved Duff but his decision to start Tedic over Norwood in the final was absolutely baffling. Could have been a different story had he started.
He’s got ability but needs to accept that he’s a target man & needs to be the dogs body for a finisher. He’s never going to be a natural finisher. Needs to be the Heskey to an Owen as an example. I thought there were signs he was doing this towards the end of last season under Duff but then he seemed to freeze a bit at Wembley & hasn’t kicked in this season.
Interesting Stats re Watters so far this season. Played 719 minutes, three goals, three assists. That equates to 3 goals in 8 games if he plays 90 minutes, or a goal every 2.6 games or, if an ever present for a season approx 18 goals. He has the same number of assists as McAtee who took 1042 minutes to get them. Only Kane has more assists (5) in 2063 minutes. Put another way, Watters gets an assist every 239 minutes, Kane gets an assist every 412 minutes.
To be fair 2 of the 3 goals one was a tap in that jalo put on a plate for him at Reading basically a open net. And the 1 v Cambridge away the keeper had a mare it was straight at him. Can't remember the other. I think there's a player in watters just needs some confidence.
Now seems they are replacing tedic with Clarke-Harris. Charlton had bid of 450k accepted. Decent level up that from tedic to JCH
Surely a misprint posh get top money for there players 4.5 million Surely? Joking aside good signing for Charlton.
It's a shame he's a lazy fooker because he has that natural finishing instinct what Tedic and many others don't have, he could easily have carved out a very good career in the championship if so
I think he did. I reckon he could have a solid league one/two or similar level career. As mentioned above though, he's not a natural finisher. His best bet would be to train in a specific manner, linking up play, holding the ball up, etc. Heskey/Crouch/Kanu were never really that prolific but did well because of what else they brought on the pitch
