16 of our last 18 seasons have involved Fighting relegation Getting relegated Play off promotions Play off final losses Play off semi defeats Automatic promotion This season hopefully ends with success but you can't argue against for keeping our fan base going through the ringer. Got me thinking who must be the most bored fans with mid table season in season out probably say Crystal Palace never near the European spots and always clear of danger with room to spare, must be dreadful for SPL fans outside of Celtic and Rangers.
I do find the Premier League pretty dull to be honest. Before the season even starts, you almost already know who will be top four and bottom four. The rest just make up the numbers such as West Ham and Everton. Nice to see Villa in the mix in the same way it was a change to see Leicester win it back in 2016.
Ipswich would be up there before their relegation a couple of years ago, changed for the better for them now though. Think they spent 16 years middling in the championship.
Preston North End have been bouncing around mid-table in the Championship since Yoda was a lad, with the odd flirtation with the play offs, so they’re a bit dull, even if they are the punchline of a famous joke about a tattooed old chap
About 10/12 years ago, Rochdale were described as the most boring club in England because they'd gone something like 37 years without a promotion or relegation. They've had 1 promotion and 2 relegations since. So that's effectively 1 good season in about 50 years.
I've always said, it's never dull supporting Barnsley. Since 97, 5 Wembley appearances, a promotion to the Premier League, cup runs with outstanding shocks, 5 relegations, 5 play off appearances. I always think the worst team to support must be Oldham. In the same time, I don't think they've had a single promotion or even challenge and seem to have gone from mediocre to crap to non league.
I miss the good old days of mid table mediocrity in the second tier, where by Easter we knew we would be in the same league next season.
Other than the clubs gone bust, I'd probably agree with that mate. Also the first team to be relegated to non-league who've previously been in the premier league. Scunthorpe would be up there for me aswell, bad times. Just gone through a right ruckus with their owner too
Ship in Thurnscoe, Mi uncle Jim sed, Anyone want free beer? The day we were promoted (1997-98), it was flying everywhere.
Never mind 'the top four'. You know the Winners before the start of the Season. One or two teams will flatter to deceive but at the end of the season - it's Man City - every time. The SPL is the same. The gap between Celtic and the rest is huge. No challengers.
I don’t think there has ever been a side in English football history at the level of Manchester City; and when you remember it wasn’t that long ago that they were a joke of a Club who we could regularly turn over (along with the other Michael Mouse outfit at Stamford Bridge) it shows how football fortunes can change.
