Got a bit of a layover in the area. Any suggestions on somewhere to get a meal that doesn’t cost the earth? I’ll have luggage so don’t want to trail about but may have a couple of hours to kill on my own.
Dishoom in Granary Square behind the station. Few of them knocking about (think there's one in Manchester) but they really are excellent. Indian btw
Drummond Street , Euston. I thought HS2 had done for it but no. If you’ve not been it’s a street if Indian restaurants. Take your pick. I had dhal, veg curry, rice, chapatis £7.50 just the other side of Xmas. Back on Friday. Also try the sweet and savoury shops, a bag of mixed starters for the train ride.
You've got Burger King, MacDs and Nandos immediately outside Kings Cross (BK across the road, the other two to the right). Starbucks, Costa, Leon and at least a couple of restaurants upstairs in Kings Cross. But far better is the range of restaurants between the two up towards coal drops yard. Plenty of choice and budgets available...

Pancras Square, just behind the St Pancras entrance of King Cross, has many different bar and restaurant options, so not far to travel with your luggage. From Tortilla/ Wasabi type of places to Hoppers, a Srilankan/South Indian place, which was nice when I went. There's also a Pizza place, a Sushi and Bao places, and another asian restaurant that I think was Japanese. You'll find something there or there's coal drop yard another 10 min walk in that direction which has loads more options. As you go out of the station there are 3 Indian Restaurants over the road on your left. Take the one farthest to the right as you are looking at them.
^^^^^^^^ re the op's predicament. The Barrel Vault. Cheap and no faffing around. Train times/updates on display in the venue as well. No brainer.
That's not what was asked. Didnt realise fired wanted 5 star. Most of us do when necessary. Try running an away coach.
Thanks all, well I had planned to head to King’s Cross Square but having done several laps of Sussex/ Surrey airspace waiting for clearance to land at icy Gatwick, I have less time than thought. So Wetherspoons it is! So far so good. Had food, have wine. End of holiday sitting on my own having travelled back with youngest to get her back to Uni.
Last time i was in there was after the Oxford final. A group of Reds fans singing about 10 German bombers and the RAF from Barnsley. Quite a surreal and unpleasant experience.
