I know there's time left in the window, plenty of it infact. However, we said that we'd have signings done early and the long gap between games was a great time to bring people in. It's now the 9th of Jan. Signings, I would assume, would've been identified, scouted, approached (it happens), terms agreed in principle well before the clock struck 12 on the 1st of Jan. I would've assumed we would've had at least one signing in the building by now. Pines taking himself back off to the States tells me that he's not coming, or at the very least, holding out for a better offer from elsewhere, if that is the case, do we want someone who's clearly not committed in the first place? It just seems, as we head into double digits in January, that we're towing to get deals done. I hope I'm wrong.
You do realise players have the main say in the matter. Especially loan deals. Hoping to get and getting are miles apart. As is the case with Cole. They will bide their time if available for transfer. Whatever happens they'll still get paid. Example to date Championship. 15 clubs not signed anyone. https://www.skysports.com/football/...ransfer-window-2024-championship-ins-and-outs
We certainly can't wait until the end of the month for Pines to decide where he's coming (or going). No doubt there will also be some time for international clearance to take place. There must be a deadline (soon) to allow us to get a backup
Do you think that when players comes over to talk to clubs on a different continent they bring all of their stuff with them in a big removal van, just in case? From what I can tell from the rumours he will probably have better offers than us, but I don't think him going home to mull them over or say goodbye to his mates is evidence either way!
It’s certainly a poor showing but typical, they have said where the priority lies too,yes no game at the weekend but when Bobby was put in place would have thought there would some urgency. The position is a false one imho just hope they don’t think we are high up let’s risk it! The football has been appalling to watch and the league is a ooor one.
When it was made public that Pines sat with our new acting DoF for the Wigan game the deal was probably scuppered. Poor team performance and a dead atmosphere... How could you sell the club after witnessing that..
We might not be signing Pines, I've no idea. But I wouldn't read anything into the fact he's gone back home. He came over for negotiations, he wasn't going to pack all his belongings and sort his visa out just in case negotiations went well!
Love how the club saying they hoped to get deals done early changes to said would. Literally hundreds of reasons why Pines could have gone back and it’s not announced as well. And like someone else said it’s the 9th day.
Ipswich last January transfer window had signed Luongo, George hirst and Nathan broadhead for 1.5 million all by 9th January but obviously they were a club that wanted to get promoted.
And a club with a lot more money than us tbf. Agree that I thought we’d have had one in though by now.
Absolutely. It really can't have helped. It's hard to imagine him saying to himself, "Wow! I really want to be a part of that!" I think he would have been more impressed if he'd seen the Peterborough game instead, 3 days earlier.
Yeah shame he didn't watch us there instead of New Year's. hardly going to make you want to pack your bags and move 3k miles.. Shame really, just what the doctor ordered.. 6"5 and pacey with it..
I doubt very much that Pines would base his decision off a single game - he’s a footballer and knows bad performances happen. The atmosphere doesn’t help though.
