There I was, sat in my seat in ESL wondering what the hell was different. I thought we were in the wrong row at first as the view seemed somehow different.

Then someone pointed it out - the new electronic advertising boards are so big we can't see the bloody touchline any more.

And one of them in front of the Ponty already doesn't work.

It's improved, most along the East Stand didn't work for the Stevenage game.

1/3 of those in front of the East Stand didn't either.

I thought they’d moved them closer to the pitch, didn’t realise they were new.

I assume they are new - they seem much bigger than before.

They need to be moved. If the entire stand can't see if the ball is on or on the pitch because of them then they need moving.

Piss poor that either nobody bothered to check that they weren't impeding customers view or that they did and didn't care

I didn’t go today - but are we saying the electronic boards have been replaced with taller ones recently? If so, that’s good news. The original were quite small and pixelated imo.

Clubs don’t always own them - they are a lease type of deal - so can be swapped around etc.

The kit and spares room for these boards is under the West Stand - saw it during the summer.

They looked bigger (and tbf better/clearer) on the tv highlights.

No its not. I'd rather see the pitch than the back panel of an advertising board.

I'd feel a bit miffed if my view of the pitch was affected by them if I'm honest.

Don't know if it is still the case, but a similar issue arose at a lot of stadiums in the Champions League a few years ago, where UEFA advertising contracts for TV coverage saw clubs have to install taller perimeter advertising (initially boards and then digital) and ended up with the clubs closing some of the first few rows of seats behind them because the advertising obstructed part of the view of the pitch. I'm sure those low down and behind the goals couldn't see the goal line.

I sit on the back row of ESL and the only thing I noticed today was that the flame throwers had gone. Then again I never look at the hoardings.

Didn't you notice that you couldn't see the touchline though?

I've said elsewhere that I couldn't see the touchline from the back row of the East Stand lower. Those nearer the front stand no chance at all.
The new ad boards are too high or badly positioned and that contravenes FIFA spectator viewing regulations.
The club could be in bother if they don't fix it.

No no no no no !!!!!
If you can't see the pitch because of the panels then it's piss poor and not fan friendly.

Perhaps they can tilt them slightly or dig down a little to lower the tops.
