Sat for Ages Wondering What Was Different

I was actually going to start a thread about these boards. I’m fairly low down in the Ponty and there were several occasions when the ball was on the floor at the opposite end of the pitch when I couldn’t see what was going on cos of the advertising boards turning bright white and then flashing and what have you. I totally lost track of where the ball was and which players were challenging for it cos the background was so overbearing.

Do we earn enough money from it to make it worthwhile spoiling fans’ enjoyment of the game?

 

I saw them on ifollow. More invasive than usual, I thought. I wondered how much revenue they brought in to the Club and is it worth putting up with this distraction at our chosen recreation. It flashed up that you can eat at the 'Carvery'. That is quite an expensive and invasive kit to promote the Carvery.

Take them away.. if it means we are not 'Big' club then good... it is just advertising intruding into our lives...

 

Seems slack and unthinking as to how they were put up without taking lines of sight into consideration but, taking Neerav at his word, "it's how well we react when the problem comes to light" so I would hope to turn up on Tuesday and see they've gone. It simply beggars belief that you turn up to a game and are stymied from seeing the action. Spectemur Agendo. Matchday Experience.

And no, I ain't ever going to buy anything from a company who are advertising on a screen the back of which has turned my seat into a 'restricted view' and is preventing me from watching the game! I'm more likely to avoid that company like the plague.

 

I was wondering yesterday whether they actually affect the players' perception of the ball. Presumably not as otherwise they wouldn't have them, but I can't see how it won't interfere.

 

From that point of view it actually looked like the game was being played inside a low sided box with flashing lights.

 

This is what pisses me off because that shouldn't be the case. they shouldn't **** up daily in the first place

Surely they can be just moved back a bit..?

 

Absolutely loads of room to move them back which will help the majority of people but I don't think it will help those near the front because they're just so tall I don't see how they'll ever see over them. The other question is, if they move them back will they block the advertising boards behind them?

 

On the old advertising wall there isn't advertising boards just a plain white stone wall....So I thought.

 

Just checked the highlights and you're right. In that case it makes absolutely no sense for them to be where they are except maybe because they break every 5 minutes so the maintenance guy needs round the clock access to the back of them maybe?

Weirdly there is still advertising on the Ponty end wall but you can't see any of it because it's covered by the new boards

 

At least we have got shut of the flame throwers after a few complaints of singed eyebrows.
