Odd little place in Northumberland, but only a stones throw from Bamburgh which is delightful and has a wonderful castle.
Just got back last night. Called in Craster at the jolly fisherman for nice Sunday lunch. It’s where I live half my life.
Bamburgh looks nice for the photos n' that, but beyond the castle & the beach, there's bugger all to do there.
Lovely place, the Northumberland coast is one of my favourite parts of the UK. Me and Steve Stewardson (remember him?) did the Great North Bike Ride from Seahouses to Tynemouth in 2009.
Ahhhhhh .... Craster kippers !!!!!! We called in the pub recently and it was so packed out we didn't stay. Over an hours wait for a meal. Suppose that's good for them.
If you ever go book in advance online. They don’t allow dogs in the upper restaurant with the sea view but they do in the lower bar area. Also if you need information about the area follow “Coastal Custodian” On Facebook. She is a lovely lady from Beadnell who all the information about food and things to do in the area.
Me and the other half love that part of the country, the walk from Bamburgh beach to Seahouses is beautiful and going the other direction back when Bamburgh Castle and holy island come into focus is stunning. We also visited Dunstanburgh Castle for the first time a month ago, thats also a lovely walk along the sea front to the ruins.
The walk to Dunstanburgh castle is on my bucket list, has been for a few years, but there always seems something prevents it when we're there. I believe it's called "a wife". I've offered to buy her a glass of pop in the pub at Craster so she can stay in there whilst I do the walk. Only a couple of hours so she'll be fine. And she'll have the added bonus of sniffing the kipper factory smoke from across the road. Nuff said.
