Well as far as i understand he only left because of his driving ban and the fact he lived Oldham way. We should have kept Khaled on, to be his driver
Wasn't he banned all that time? Cole used to take him training. Didn't get on with khaled did he? Would be a quiet car journey.
im not fussed about him coming back but didn’t he get 12 last year - we will struggle to get better than that.
Again if this turned out to be true which I don’t think it will it would give that appearance that we don’t have a clue what we are doing.
All these arguments about numbers of goals scored. Not hugely relevant. Yes he made a solid contribution goals wise - but it isn’t really his goals we are missing, or at least not the goals that we miss from him mainly. Some posters have a bee in their bonnet about goals as though that is the only function of a centre forward. They do a much broader job than that. Or should. His pressing and harassing made the opposition sit deeper, be more cautious. He precipitated turning the ball over and winning it back high up the pitch a hell of a lot. He wins and retains possession fantastically, easing pressure on those behind him. With the defence we have had in the first half of the season, his presence higher up the field would have been a huge asset at times. All these arguments about how he scored less than Cole last season - nobody has suggested he was the best goalscorer at the club, but the fact remains we’ve missed him hugely, as was predicted by many, not just me. Cosgrove and Watters have ranged from at best relatively ineffective to at times a downright disgrace. Shaw and Dallas, the less said the better. Then there’s Marsh, not really up to where we need him to be, much as we’d love a local lad to come through - and Jalo, who is too good for u18 football but hasn’t shown much other than brief glimpses in men’s football. I doubt Norwood is coming back, it’d be pretty bizarre - but there’s no doubt that he would improve the squad and give us something that we currently don’t have. He’d annoy opposition defences, worry them, affect their play elsewhere too. He’s also the best forward I’ve seen at getting games played out and a win over the line when in the lead. Duff’s side was excellent at seeing out a win and he was very often a leading part of that. I thought it was hugely short sighted to let him go, saying it plenty at the time. He’s exactly the pain in the arse centre forward that other clubs have that annoy the life out of defenders and fans alike.
To me the only thing it would say is that he didn't get on with Khaled and he was the reason for him leaving and now he's gone he wants to come back.
i don’t think Norwood would be a starter but a much better option off the bench than Cosgrove or Watters. When McAtee runs out of speed at 60 mins. Again not something I want to happen but that would be the reality. You’d expect him to chip in with 5/6 goals in the remaining games
I understand De Bruyne has only been offered 18 months at Man City. If we're quick and offer him 2 years, I 'm sure he'll come here.
I'd rather have Tedic. Norwood isn't capable of sustaining League One effort for much over 45 minutes. We were right to get shut and signing him again would be proof for me that Hassell shouldn't get the DoF job permanently.
I'm not a fan, BUT I will admit he's better then our current "2nd string" strikers that's for damn sure. Can't imagine he's coming back for one second though.
