With the current Cole rumour doing the rounds I thought it would be interesting to see what the concensus is on the BBS. Neerav stated prior to Christmas that it was "extremely unlikely that star players such as Devante Cole will be sold" though he did caveat this with the Liam Kitching situation and referenced "silly money". With this in mind, what would constitute "silly money" in your opinon? Or simply...
Ideally don't sell at all but if someone is offering over a million realistically that's probably too good to turn down.
Should be an option Don’t sell if we want to make the playoffs/ or automatic Promotion Cos if we do sell him we won’t
There's no value in selling him for less than a million in my opinion. I can't see us getting an offer that we'd take, so I see him seeing out his contract and presumably leaving for nothing in the summer. We're certainly stronger with him in the team though, so I wouldn't want to move him on unless the offer is too good.
Exactly this …. No club will bid silly money anyway so it shouldn’t happen. It’s a win-win for both parties for Cole to see his contract out. However if we do sell for something like £500K then it really is time to turn the lights off.
2nd or 3rd highest goalscorer in the division. No less than 2m at his age. I'd put a 4m price tag on him just to make sure
Would be madness letting him go for anything less than silly money for me, especially given the strikers we have behind him. But as we know, if a player decides they really want to leave, it’s usually only gonna end one way.
He's our only regular goal threat, we've got to keep him. North of £2m for us to even consider it. No-one will be anywhere near bidding that though, his worth to us is way more than his actual market value.
£2 million plus. Not my favourite player but don’t see January as the best time to sell your leading scorer. The bid we had turned down from Wimbledon for their striker was £1 million so that’s the ball park to replace him with no guarantee of success.
Third option is we keep him,he fires us into the Championship with another 10 goals and He resigns for us in the summer?
`We shouldn't even be talking about selling him, without a very good replacement lined up, BUT if we did it should only be on a money up front basis.
hopefuilly the signing of Pines has given him impetus to stay, regardless of interest. We need to show we want to go up this year to keep players.
I've gone for the Don't sell at all option. Its a gamble, but I'd rather we keep him and hope he keeps doing well for the rest of the season. Then he will leave on a free of course, but hopefully by then we will have finished in the top 6, at least, and then anything can happen!.
Cole is our only regular goalscorer and he puts in a lot of work closing down from the front. The chances of us finding a player who can do both those things, within our budget, are slim, and the chances of doing that in the last two weeks of January are pretty much impossible. If no offers have come in, or if Cole has indicated to the club that he intends to see out his contract then great. The club should then work to put two deals in place for him for the summer, depending upon which division we end up in. If a club does come in for him and it isn’t a ridiculous amount, we should offer Cole a bonus to stay, with this increasing if we get promoted. We’re not going to be able to replace him. If he leaves our season ends, simple as that. Unless, of course, Watters or Cosgrove suddenly start looking like strikers. But at the moment that’s just below Benson remaining fit for the rest of the season and Jordan Williams winning hairstyle of the year on the list of things likely to happen.
As much as I don’t want him to leave, no one seems to care about what Devante wants. All comments are about how we, as fans feel, or how the club should handle it. No one seems to care what Devante wants.
He'll be sold on the last day of he window for an undisclosed six figure fee (between 500 and 750k) and it'll be rumored all day cos the buying club have pretty much leaked it despite our 'owners' wanting it kept quiet, then the club officially announce it 30 mins after deadline has passed hoping everyone's gone to bed and they can follow it up with a get behind the Red's email in the morning.
Yes 500k would be great business to sell our top scorer in the middle of a apparent promotion campaign. If I was him I'd **** off because some will never change there opinions on Cole.
