With all due respect to Devante, I couldn't care less what he wants, he's contracted to the club until the summer. If the club want to keep him, he needs to perform as well as he can. Whilst I do hear some complaints in the stands about his perceived work rate, I personally have seen nothing but outstanding professionalism from him since he signed. He does the job that's asked of him extremely well, and his goals output this season is the best of his career. I don't see that changing if the scenario arises where the club exercise their right to retain him until the end of his contract. I've never understood this notion that once a player indicates they'd like to move to another club for twice the money (who doesn't?), there's no way you can possibly hold them to their contract and still have them perform.
Unless a ridiculous figure is bid which it won’t due to his contract length, there is no way he will be sold. Not just for footballing reasons but also it would be committing professional suicide for the board of which they would never recover from.
They would because of the core 9000. Like it or loathe it the fans are the reason the board do what the hell they like.
That’s the thing though, the minute they did something like that even a fair proportion of the core would become disillusioned. Don’t forget as well historically we have never sold a key player in January under these owners, the closest I can recall is Potts under Stendel but whilst a first teamer wasn’t a key player.
Yeah Stendel was shoe horning Potts in along with Moncur. We were lucky that season with Mcgeehan and Mowatt being in top form.
