Radio Sheffield have spoken to the club and confirmed there's been no approach for Cole from any of the aforementioned clubs, and have reiterated he won't be sold unless a sizeable offer comes in.
I wish I could believe them and trust them, but I don't. And I wonder what would they call a sizeable offer ?. The 500k that has been suggested btw is an insult, for a player as important as Cole is to us.
Chris Lumsden ex reds.. on Carlisle coms saying earlier that talk in the press room is Cole is going and where surprised he played tonight.. 2.5million
Only thing with me if that deal is to happen it needs to happen before the end of the window or will it just be a similar scenario to Kitching good money but no time to recruit.
I don't want him to leave, his value to us was plain to see tonight. But £2.5 million is completely mental money for a striker at the end of his contract who's never really performed above the 3rd tier.
No ones paying £2.5m for him. Our only hope of keeping him is to get promoted otherwise he’ll leave on a free.
That would be the dilemma if anyone was mental enough to offer us £2.5 million for Cole. Which I'm pretty sure nobody is.
Absolutely no way someone is paying £2.5 million for a player in league 1 that is out of contract in 6 months. Keep him here until his contract ends and he should get 25.
Bruce Dyer never got more than 16 in a season. Higgy got 19 and Winnall got 21. If Devante beats either or both of those he is our best striker in 30 years.
£2.5million for a striker who’s got no record of success at any level higher than he’s currently at, who has only five months left on his contract, and who turns 29 at the end of this season? He’s very good and we’d miss him but you cannot argue that it would be wrong to accept that. The argument about £8million for going up is moot - as him staying nowhere near guarantees we would go up and him leaving doesn’t guarantee we wouldn’t. Surely nobody has offered that money for him? Makes no sense, he’s out of contract in June. I wouldn’t take £500k, I’d consider offers above that. But £2.5million? I can’t believe it is true but if so, I’d be behind them accepting it.
