He does pick the defence but come on he can’t be blamed for some of Shepherds mistakes in first half mate surely
This. If he’d taken Shepherd out based on Saturday’s performance and we’d conceded an early goal it would also have been Collins’ fault.
lol we go through this with every single signing. Spend a year saying how crap they are. Spend the next year saying how they are phenomenal. Spend the next year moaning how the board sold them so cheaply. Maybe the board could sign a ready made player now and again, but you’d think fans would learn by now
Shepherd was arguably mom last Saturday and tonight had a bit of a mare but that’s the life of a young inexperienced defender I’m afraid, remember Mads when he first arrived.
No of course not. Shepherd played well on Saturday but we do have Lopata on the bench. Given how raw Jack is you would have thought a swap out would have been reasonable to protect him.
Exactly. Shepherd is a real talent but he's on an incredibly steep learning curve. In general he's dealt with the step up incredibly well as the gulf in class between the 8th tier and League 1 must be insane, but a few hiccups along the way are only to be expected. I think that Collins is managing him very well.
I imagine Shepherd was beating himself up at half time and as a player in development, the absolutely wrong thing to do is to hook him off. He needed time to make good his mistakes, and to be fair to him, he was much better 2nd half. MDG was poor second half and if I was taking one of them off after half time it would have been Maël.
I can only assume that Lopata is not either rated by Collins(who himself was a c/b) or hes not showing up well in training for him not to get a game…..from what ive seen of him he his not the quickest though so maybe thts the reason
I presume he wanted a left footer in for McCart, although when Shepherd nearly made another catastrophic error in the second half which would have led to us going 2-0 down I thought Collins might have taken him off. Having said that, Shepherd didn't seem phased by it and played pretty well for the rest of the game, which was a very positive thing to see.
Sacking the manager would be pointless as any replacement would be chosen from Sweden's U21 ladies coach or someone who once met Klopp at a book signing, anyone who mentions Warnock etc is delusional. Ah do agree our position and stats in this league look impressive but nobody can defend that 1st half unless yve got the worlds best rose tinted glasses..I've forecast playoffs most of this season but we need to get some organisation at the back or that dream will quickly disappear. With Pines coming in and McCart to return it could rapidly improve. Cadden to start for me, made all the difference tonight.
I’m not sure Andersen would’ve lasted much longer in his first season if Solbauer hadn’t come in that January. Then in his second season, he was playing with solbauer and Helik. Kitching came into the team playing alongside Andersen and Helik. If ever the club needed to go against the ‘model’ (something they seem willing to do with forwards it appears) it was in the summer. Every game I see leaves me more frustrated with the recruitment to replace the captain in the close season.
Once again..who do we think we are? We're a Division One team with, probably a top eight Division One budget. We're not going to be blowing teams away week after week, we can't afford the players to do it. We're giving bigger clubs like Derby and Portsmouth a run for their money and we've got more points than last season when, granted, we played some good stuff second half of the season. I bet there's not a set of fans currently in this league that are jumping up and down about how good they are but bloody hell we take some beating for putting the boot in. Fifth and in with a shout of automatic.
Agree with most of your post mate but we need to look at recruitment, Shaw, Dallas bought and shipped, Watters can't get a full game and all these being paid. We could have invested in a half decent CB with those 3 wages. Also Stevenage and Carlisle looked better than us and they are much smaller clubs. lets hope new DOF gets it right...
I do agree. There's one or two that we've brought in that were never going to make it. We have to take calculated gambles but Oli Shaw for instance....there was absolutely zero in his record that suggested he would fit the bill.
You can't sack a bloke with his record it would be Birmingham esq and we know what happened there don't we. The other thing the blokes clearly lucky and that's a great thing to have on your side they should have been out of sight by ht and I thought we were fortunate to win on Saturday as for Wycombe. This season just can't get my head round it the more I see of them the more confused I get.
The call for Collins out is getting tedious and embarassing. My take on last night was we made a few silly errors in the first 5 minutes which seemed to put everybody on edge.It didn't help with the crowd also feeling the nervousness and letting the players know. How Collins is remotely to blame for a missed pass or a poor clearance is beyond me.He obviously rallied the troops for the second half and it was a far better performence and a great 3 points. So on Saturday if we concede a goal think twice before you type please.
