…or whatever punishment it is we’re getting! Has anyone heard anything, anything been said at the last fans’ forum event? A quick browse around other teams forums in and around the top 6/8 and they’re all relying on us to have points taken off us. ….it’s not going to come bite us on the arse at the back end of the season is it….
The change of board issues shouldn't. The dealings of Lee and Conway, does anyone know what they were reported for. ?
Im not so sure - If we were a "Big" team like Reading Birmingham Derby there would be no chance Sides like Luton, Rotherham and Bury got far worse penalties than bigger sides, It wouldnt amaze me if we are deemed suitable to make an example of and we got a points deduction though I would hope not. It certainly wouldnt be consistent with other recent penalties if we were
Even so mate, with previous examples, the fact we took it to them, the fact we've already changed the board, and so many other details, I'd have full confidence in us winning the appeal! It will be a mockery if its anything substantial.
I agree with you and think we should avoid points deductions but I wont relax until we know. Different body but look at Evertons punishment for 1 offence and it sounds like they may even get punished twice for it yet Man City ....
The fact that they are hanging this out until the end of the season unsettles me, almost as though they are waiting to see how many points they need to deduct in order to bugger our season up
I think points deduction is coming, "he's not here anymore" is no defense generally in most settings where an organisation is under scrutiny for bad governance.
I don't think we'll get a deduction for this season. We *might* get one for next season - especially if we appeal. But tbh, we need to approach the second half of the season like we might get one and finish at least 10 points above 7th.
Do we even know what the bad governance is? Not sure we can say what the punishment will be, without full details of the actual crime
Play-Offs or Automatic then any points deduction will be applied this season. Otherwise it will be carried over. However, as I understand it the Prem are going to introduce a new rule that punishments are to be applied to the season when the offence occurred (in order to speed up the process, I believe) so the EFL may follow suit.
I think that if any points deduction doesn’t impact on your league status re either relegation or finishing in the top six, then you start the new season with a minus points rather than zero
True. But what about someone who would have been relegated two years ago if a points deduction had been applied then, for example. Or someone who was promoted while in breach of the rules but it only came to light later on, such as Leicester? It's a tricky one.
Based on previous cases I'd be surprised if a points deduction was applied, especially as we've brought this to light against the previous lot. I think it will be a sizeable fine with a suspended 6 point deduction. It's perhaps wishful thinking from other clubs, we've all been there it's a bit pot kettle black imo
