Happenee in the 33rd and 71st minutes. The second time louder than the first. I was surprised there wasn't a tannoy announcement.
Racist chanting and large scale fighting from gangway one. The club should close that gangway and dish out long term bans before everyone else has to suffer.
They might not have been causing bother but why turn up to a local rivals match and wear something that'll annoy the home fans? They were clearly being provocative.
The chant needs to stop it’s dated childish etc but don’t get the racist and homophonic but if I’m honest, it’s singing primarily about one of our closest rivals and mentions a terrorist organisation and the head of the Catholic Church who admittedly have a reputation of abuse against young boys but that’s a bit tenuous innit.
If I was sad enough to go to watch Wednesday play another team, or anybody else for that matter, I wouldn’t dream of wearing a Barnsley scarf or anything else that would identify me as a Barnsley fan. Not condoning the fighting whatsoever, but come on it was shear stupidity at best to sit there
I wouldn't do it myself but if they were otherwise minding their own business then they shouldn't get beaten up for wearing a scarf. It's absolutely pathetic.
Aye, this. I always advise fans of other clubs to hide club colours when in town before the game in order to get in pubs, but it shouldn't be like that. I know this isn't quite the same, but fans of rival teams mix in other sports without incident.
The announcement condones discriminatory chanting. Whilst the Catholic church has a history of child abuse, not all catholics are sex offenders, hence the warning. I presume something similar in regards to the IRA.
Its not just sexual abuse the Catholic Church should hang its head in shame for, there's the abuse of young mothers/ enforced adoption and extreme discipline in schools, I know a lovely Catholic girl and she hasn't got a good word about the nuns at her school in Ireland ( she has got a lot of really bad ones though!)
Unfortunately we need to get through to the morons that insist on chanting this crap. Most of them won't have a clue about any of the above points but will succeed in us playing behind closed doors if they carry on
I'll be honest, it's not something I know a great deal about. I was just pointing out the reason for the announcement.
At least one nun-run school in Ireland had hidden graveyards with the bodies of children that died in their "care". It was systematic abuse over the best part of a century and the kids paid the price. https://nypost.com/2014/06/05/irish...after-unmarked-graves-of-800-kids-discovered/
As I post in ignorance, what is the relevance to BFC & IRA ? As in why do they chant it, is there a historical context behind it?
By the look of the video they were been asked to leave and reluctantly doing so. Then goading home fans for a reaction.
