Aren't the charges summat to do with not keeping the efl up to date on who had a financial interest in the club? Presumably so the efl could ensure all were fit and proper persons.......as the efl have always been so diligent in checking that.
Not comparing Apples with Apples TBF. Financial infringements are viewed far worse than admin and generally have guidelines around them for minimum points etc.
Stripping titles is different to deducting points. You can strip a team without affecting others but if you deduct points it opens a huge can as an example: league positions/financial rewards, European qualification even potentially relegation could be affected.
Was "The Club" hiding its true ownership or was an individual, Conway, doing it? All rests on what conclusion they draw IMHO.
Everyone is talking as if they know the Charges against lee and Conway. The change of board is clear. And will not Imo incur a points deduction (a slap on the wrist imo at worst eg fine or suspended fine) . We are not aware to my knowledge. Of the other supposed breaking of the rules if any. Unless I've missed em. So what do some of you folk actually know. ?.
The charge relates to the real ownership of the club not being disclosed with Conway acting as owner when in fact he was representing a number of investors as proxy. To act as proxy Conway has to have been in agreement with the other parties who were also aware of the situation. I’m pretty sure at least one continues to be an owner post this revelation.
Man City's charges are completely different, date back to prior to the change in FFP rules and will likely result in no more than a transfer embargo for 1 or 2 windows and a fine. Any Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Ure fans and and I nclude YouTube fan boys like Goodridge and Robbie whatshisname and all their friends on the forest moon will be hugely disappointed to hear that this death star is and will be fully operational.
I would hope not. The useless EFL ,who are supposed to scrutinise potential owners, are at fault as far as i can see. At Reading they committed financial misdemeanors and had points deducted but now their fans invade the pitch and stop a game because of the owner the EFL passed as fit for purpose, and the EFL say they are backing the fans. I bet if we invaded the pitch, they wouldn't back us. But i honestly cannot see any reason why we should have any punishment
What knarks me is the ridiculous timeframe it takes to make a decision on these charges. It's hardly like anyone has committed murder and framework should already be in place around the games governance. Yet we're told it's likely to be around May until anything more is heard on this.
Be just our luck to go on an amazing run, nab 2nd spot on the last day, get promoted, then find out in the off-season that when we start our season in the Championship, we'll have a 10 point deduction - all but guaranteeing our relegation before a ball is kicked.
