    Reminds me of Roy Keane, you can't slag your players off like that in public as the manager and not expect them to down tools, you might say it's wrong that the players react like that, but it's inevitable.

    About 15-20 years ago, our boss came up and called a team meeting where I was told he proceeded to tear strips off the team (I was on nights, so wasn't in the meeting but got the update 2 hours later). He spent the best part of an hour ranting about how much worse we were than the other team down south and how things needed to change - it was to bring in a new shifts rota iirc.

    Being on nights, I went through our stats and we were actually recording better KPIs than the other team - fewer tickets breaching SLA, faster response times, etc. Immediately though, our performance *dropped* by 20-30% almost overnight. Morale was down and our performance suffered as a result and took 2-3 months to recover.

    The boss was eventually sacked for bullying although that was a separate matter...
