I was in Kings Cross last summer. There was a little old chinese bloke who had no english at all. There were few people around him trying to help him. He kept saying Stevven Agger. Finally, one lady had the realisation that he was trying to find the train to Stevenage.

Imagine flying across the globe to go to Stevenage. I'm sure the locals love it but by the good knight, it's grim.

Funny enough I know a guy from Oxford who calls Barugh Green as Barrow Green not Bark Green! :):)

It took me 2 years to get him to pronounce it like us locals do! :)

I have worked with Chinese people before in an office, the first time one of them was talking on the phone......the Manderin word they say as their pause word i.e "like", "you know", "that", nearly fell off my chair it's "na-ge". and yes it does sound like that word.

Yeah it should sound like Nay Guh. Used to hear it all the time when I worked out there.

Twinned with the roman town of Autun, in my neck of the woods, as well as 3 other places. Punching above its weight.
