    Now then !
    Reminds me of something said to me many years ago re. Sheff Weds. They were due to have a pitch inspection and they "secretly" put water on the pitch to freeze so the game would be called off. Funnily enough they had several players out injured at the time.
    (Told to me by the father of one of the then current players)

    That suggests the pitch wasn't quite fit for play at 11am, as the situation cannot really deteriorate between then and k.o.time in the prevailing temperature. If it's only +3c or so, you wouldn't expect a dramatic improvement either within two hours. Must be a very close call.

    This is absolutely piss poor from the ref. Wtf is going to change between now and 1pm? All this guarantees is that more Barnsley supporters will be there if/when it's called off later.

    Absolute joke. If there’s any doubt about a game on the Friday it should be called off then. Unacceptable to let people travel and be messed about like this.

    I suspect this indicates the pitch was close to being playable but the Ref can't be sure hence further inspection. This is trying to get the match to go ahead it seems to me, a laudable aim.

    How much water would you need to achieve that? And would they have to have taken the Hillsborough 'slope' into account?

    Seems to me that the ref is trying to get the game played. Rightly or wrongly. The idea that Stevenage are somehow trying to get it called off is just conspiracy theory, isn’t it?

    Local derby Bradford Vs Donny was called off yesterday. Our fans have to travel 140 odd miles and they have a pitch inspection at 11am then again at 1pm. Ridiculous.
