So you actually think they did the right thing calling it off at 1pm?......surely not and obviously you’ve not travelled

That was shocking. However, I do enjoy travelling.

What happens when it gets to April and teams have a huge fixture pile up, that could have been avoided?

At least they won’t be postponed in April due to weather?.....can’t see problem

You said all games without undersoil should be decided day before.
If they do that more games would be called off resulting in a fixture pile up towards end of season.

Yeah I stick by it......then maybe clubs would invest in undersoil heating and save any chance of fixture pile up, and also winters are getting milder so the so called fixture postponements and piles don’t happen as much as used to anyway

They are generally amendable for a £10 admin fee on same route. Take me as an example- tickets today about £90 for me and 18yo. If called yesterday we could have moved to a future date so possibly used for Charlton game in April. If called at 11 at least we could have got off in Donny and not wasted the time travelling. Its now cost us the £90 train ticket plus food and drink and a 7hr round trip for nothing.

Fair play to LNER today though let us back on 1358 when we were booked on 1856. Heaps of reds fans on there as well so presume they were flexible this afternoon......

And don’t forget the poor players and Management are making the same pointless journey (although they could be using the opportunity as a “bonding in adversity” but more probably as a “sleeping” opportunity).

They won’t though games like today was in Stevenage interest to cancel.
Day before means travelling club have to be down earlier for inspection and easier for teams to cancel to their benefit.
Peterborough had a pitch inspection today and played they would have postponed if decision was made yesterday.
That’s why I suggested elsewhere to Supertyke make the home team pay for costs for travelling fans and more likely to invest in under soil heating etc.
We’re on the same page just different approaches.

I think you can alter the train tix / refund with admin fee the day before mate. Also by 1pm everyone will have already set off. It would make sense to make a decision on it outside of the time it takes to travel in my view.

earlier decision - lost £10 admin fee
Later decision - lost £90 train tickets plus time plus other money spent down there

Playing devil's advocate here. Attendance at football matches isn't compulsory so could a fan not make the decision themselves that hmm it looks a bit dodgy this, I'll stay at home and get a refund on my train tickets?

Give it a rest now pal. If it isn't bad enough people losing a day and loads of money to a non event, there's people like you rubbing their noses in it saying why couldn't you stay at home.

Yes you can amend tickets unless you’ve bought mega advance ones.
