There are not huge amounts of rain forecast from now until Tuesday in this part of the world. Oxford’s pitch ought to be reasonably well drained as it is one of the more modern grounds. Wind may be a problem on Tuesday evening, 50 mph gusts forecast throughout the game.
Going to newbury races in the afternoon before back up to oxford for game and hotel booked so fingers crossed the gale force winds dont happen.
As far as I know we’ve never had a game called off because it’s too windy. Still there is always a first. If the forecast is right the winds have dropped in Oxford by Tuesday night anyway
Travelling down Tuesday arriving around 2pm for a few beers pre match then booked a trusty premier inn for night
I meant that the wind ( which according to the latest BBC forecastvaries from 42 to 48 mph between 7 & 10 pm on Tuesday night) could have an impact on the game.
Our home game against Rotherham United, December 1974 on the Saturday between Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
I remember coming over on the train in the late 70,s-early 80's V Hull, got to ground and just a small cardboard sign saying match postponed, think that was due to windy conditions.....
I seem to recall a cup match away at Chestetfield in the 70's that was called off. It was windy stuff flying about all over.
Yeah we are staying Oxford city centre about 2.5 miles away from ground so taxi Job. Couple of pints after game in the bowling alley across from stadium then taxi back into centre when traffic dies down
Wasn't there a much more recent game - the roof of the East Stand was damaged in the wind and the game was postponed? Maybe 5-10 years ago?
