Aye. I've read a few times that he didn't pull up any trees at Millwall, but their fans seemed keen on keeping him in the summer when he was linked. Gary Rowett also gave an interview too where he said he'd have liked him back. So he can't have been that bad.

I think that a lot of people have the wrong idea about a release clause! All it means is that if a club meet that valuation BFC can not stop him talking to the interested club or going to them if he wants to. It doesn't mean that we wouldn't sell him for less if an offer was made.

It doesn’t need a club to meet the release clause for him to go. That aspect only applies if the club want him to stay.

After Khaled gave him an improved contract then loaned him out to Millwall it’s likely that he is one of, if not the, highest earner at the club.

The fee the club are willing to accept now may well be considerably lower than the touted £2m release fee.

I’m pretty sure he will leave for an undisclosed amount..

I know that, I’m not thick. I just don’t think we should accept less. Unless his wages are far too high for League 1 or we’re desperate for cash. I don’t think either is the case.

While I didn't think he was too bad v Carlisle watch the blackpool Cup game or the Derby away game where he was the worst player on the field and totally anonymous in center midfield. That was around the time when Collins dropped him from center midfield to make way for Phillips kane and connell since then we have gone on a good run of positive results.
It's almost like were trying to put him in the shop window, too weak to play center midfield.. ok you can take caddens spot.

Last season he went on loan to Millwall with a fee agreed but signed a new deal with us on better wages. The club and Styles obviously hoped Millwall wanted to make the deal permanent.. they didn't now Styles is back here probably the biggest earner at the club. And the club I would imagine want to move him on.

And to say he hasn't been the worst performer this season is all well and good but from a player so many said would tear this league a new one he's been mostly poor.

IMO I think the problem with Styles is,,,,we know what he's capable of. If we didn't, he'd be fine. But I think we all can see he's not playing anywhere near his potential.

Sometimes it's just agents trying to drum up intrest. Can't imagine his stats from this season are at the top of any clubs scouting systems.

I did not say anybody was thick and did not quote you or refer to you in any way in my post. I still do think that on this and other threads some people have perhaps shown a lack of understanding of the workings of a release clause!

I don't get the fuss about Styles. I admittedly see less games than some of you lot but I see enough and I've genuinely never seen a game where he's dominated in midfield, run the game. In fact he consistently fails in that role or, if we're being diplomatic, underwhelms.
His reputation seems to me to be based entirely on that one season under Ismael where he played a role no other club is ever going to ask him to replicate i.e. anywhere more than 30 yards from the opposition goal lump it forward and anything closer press high and look for bits and pieces. He did well in that role but before or since....nothing of any note.
I'd happily free up his wages for someone who can more directly impact the first eleven.

I can't see anyone paying £2m for him, unless he plays like a completely different player for Hungary.

If he did go, would like us to go after Ben Garitty at Port Vale, different player but good in air, box to box player with an eye for a goal.

I’ve said many times I think it’s best if he leaves because he doesn’t do enough for me.....however if he doesn’t go this window you would probably expect him to try and up his performances to guarantee getting into Hungary squad for Euros.....not sure how he gets in at present tbf but good luck to him on that front

What he says is right apart from the release clause. We will get no where near the rumored 2million release clause that's why Millwall said no. More than likely someone will offer a fraction of that as a gamble and we will says yes to get off the wage bill and will be announced as undisclosed.

A Hull City reporter has confirmed there's no truth in the rumour that Styles is linked with them.

Depends what that fraction is. If someone offers 3/4 of the fee in his clause, it'll probably be accepted

I'd take 1/4 of the fee in his clause but I don't rate him as highly as some on here.
