No - he's got a cement mixer going, full of reinforced concrete.

And is setting up a tweezer sale stall. So that arse splinters can be removed for at least the next ten years.

That pitch looks poor to say we're only halfway through a season! 500k - 1M for a Desso...That would be a very good investment imo. Get that unlimited Council chequebook out Sir Steve...

The pitch looks pristine compared to many that we’re on EFL show at the weekend

Our pitch is very good. We have excellent ground staff.

No, just securing the future of the town and the football club, nothing important at all.

Again with the comparing of our club to the dross that litters this league! Our pitch is better than 90% of those in League 1, and yes, we do have good ground staff. But it's worse this year than it has been for some time. It's not an attack, it's a fact. A DESSO would be a huge step forward as a club. If you can't understand why that would be, then I politely suggest that you don't really know what you're talking about as regards the pitch, and the maintenance of it.

Absolutely. Again, I'm not slating the ground staff, I'm suggesting a Desso would make the pitch, even in inclement weather, a much more robust surface. Aside from the cost, I really can't see why anyone would have an argument with me over whether we should have one or not! It's almost as if people just like to be contrarians just for the sake of it.

I don't believe this board is clique-y, but if a desso had been brought up by a more "well known" member of the board, there would have been agreement as opposed to replies that suggest I'm "having a go".

Think the pitch at Swillsborough is desso isn't it, and that looked awful on Saturday

Desso is some sort of hybrid pitch? Are they in use at a lot of clubs? Dont really know much about this sort of thing. I do remember thinking how good our pitch was looking last season but haven’t noticed this.

Desso is a blend of a living, "real" turf, with 20cm long synthetic fibres embedded within it. The synthetic fibres or strands act as an anchor of sorts for the turf, stopping it from tearing up as easily. The cost comes with the prep of the surface that the fibres/strands will be placed into, and also the time it takes to actually implant them into the playing surface.

The difference in cost comes from the amount of prep needed and ofcorse, the density of the synthetic fibres you wish to embed. EDIT - by density, I mean how many synthetic strands would you want per m² for example.

My thoughts would be that Oakwell would require significant prep, as I doubt that there's 20cm of soil/substrate on ours, and perhaps the undrsoil heating might be a hinderance to any installation.

I thought any form of artificial grass was not allowed in the top 4 tiers.

Most of the premier league, some of the Championship including Wednesday, Leeds and Huddersfield have it.
