Well done you super reds, absolutely delighted with what is for me a very unexpected win. My criticism tonight would be our giving the ball away so much towards the end. Anyway, going to bed with a smile on my face, because of the result I hasten to add
yeah. it seemed we were the ones most likely to assist them for most of the game and then settled down a bit. Regardless you've got to give credit to the manager when you look at the players on the pitch for the last 20 minutes
Best result of the season so far. Seen Cosgrove get some stick but thought he did well when he came on personally, made a right nuisance of himself and broke play up really well.
Well that was stressful to watch. We keep churning out some of the worst halves of football and making some of the worst mistakes I’ve ever seen a Barnsley team make and winning. Long may it continue. If we cut that out and pines is the player I hope we will be a reyt force. Roberts is an absolute hero what a bloody keeper. I have no idea what Watters problem is but the lack of effort he puts in is becoming criminal. I also can’t believe this is the same player we have coming on and running around like a bull in a china shop: All in all an amazing 3 pts to win in rancid conditions. Well played reds!
Cracking result that. 1st half decent attacking and pressing performance. 2nd half probably expected as a backs to the wall. And to be fair we rode it out. I'd have taken a point before kick off, but that feels absolutely massive does that
Great battling win that, but ( especially if Styles is off ) we need reinforcements. Sorry but I just don’t get Cosgrove, he runs about a lot and is a trier, but he rarely seems to close anybody down enough to be useful ( maybe the odd keeper who is trying it on) if he receives the ball and gets involved in a bit of a tussle he is blown up against plus he never seems a threat in the air in the area, so what’s the point?
Well a great 3 points ......horrible conditions, thought they would batter us second half, with the wind etc but well done and it could be argued subs made an impact tonight. Feared the worse when Kane went off but we managed to hold it together. Overall we did well in very difficult conditions.
Was never going to be pretty in the second half. Playing into the wind in slippy conditions is always a recipe for a misplaced pass/mis control in your own half that leads to a goal. Happy with the safety first, lump it approach, especially at this level. Roberts had a great game, held on to a couple in the second half that he could have easily spilled. Cosgrove and Watters did OK. Understand Watters getting stick, but has anyone seen him receive a decent pass recently? I haven’t. Not really giving a player clearly out of form and low on confidence much chance. One grumble, why oh why did we try and take a regular corner at the 90min mark instead of keeping it in the corner? Crying out for a counter attack, which they got but fortunately couldn’t capitalise. Don’t know what goes through players heads at times….
All I would say is the ref was pretty lenient in terms of our “time wasting” and I think if you start pissing about with the ball in the corner it becomes obvious you’re time wasting. 5-10 seconds every throw in or goal kick is difficult to book a player for when they’re still putting corners in to the box trying to score.
Considering we played the last 25 minutes without any first team midfielders on the pitch then that was a brilliant win.
The 2nd half needed a cool head and half a seconds thought to split their defence while they pushed out. for me Devante should have stayed on but we held on for a terrific result. defending 1-0 is nerve racking..
Best dirty win of the season. Given the conditions and our lack of a midfield massive credit to Collins and the team.
Overall great result, especially considering the circumstances. Some posters are conscious by their absence.
