So after him making that comment if the club bought a striker for £50k do you think he'd be happy with that and think his request was answered?

Depends who the striker was and how he performed…..

But I get what you’re saying. On the flip side I think it’s pretty obvious the OP wasn’t saying we will spend millions this window, given that we never have and everyone who followed BFC for more than this afternoon very well knows we can’t.

Unfortunately with the OP I don't think it does...

You'd think so, but that's not the case with lots of people on here.

Using the word "it" was a reference point to the 9m otherwise "we need to spend some money" would have be more appropriate

We need to shift some out / pay some off and modestly invest in 3 or 4 key positions.

It would, but you’re saying that the way he phrased it certainly meant that was what he was meaning, when it doesn’t, that just how you’re interpreting it.

Transfers are paid in installments- won't be 9 million in the bank

    Fair enough.

Personally I think if we spent £750K on two players and a loan that would be a solid investment.

It's always a tough window is Jan, the players identified are difficult to prise away from clubs it's somewhat dependent on those teams getting replacements in.
Would think it will go to the deadline that's just how the January market is, domino effect.
I think it will be a couple of loans, I'm not sure the players we'd want to fit the model and budget are available, but what do I knowo_O

This is the same for most clubs, especially the elite clubs spending hundreds of millions on players. We can and will do the same thing.

The amount means bugger all at this level. Frees and loans may suffice. I'd rather have quality loan players than take a punt. Given the position we are now in. We may attract some of the better ones available.

The best player in the league, our beloved Luca, was a free.

We are not run as a sustainable club. If we were there would not be a need for the owners to chuck in £10m.

The club has, over the last five years, consistently spent beyond its means running up losses to May 2022 of £15m. Small numbers by other clubs accounts but still a long way from sustainable.

The last two years should have seen significant transfer profit but, the club in league one (excluding transfer dealings) is likely to be losing over £4m pa.

Yep it's grim reading "ideally" they want us to be self sustainable, but your right we are far from it.

Donovan was free, too. Hopefully he works out as well as Luca (who lives on the 2nd floor).

I guarantee they wouldn’t be good enough for what you’re looking for though. The players you would like us to sign would be a million minimum.

Unless it’s BFC, who regularly sell players without a replacement lined up, or in some cases ever replaced at all!

I disagree. Charlton spent £250k on the leagues top scorer. I imagine there are plenty of players out of contact in the summer that would be a reasonable price for a club in need of funds.
