Who are we realistically signing? We’re lacking depth at LWB, cover in CM and a striker who can score goals if McAtee and Cole aren’t available. It’s clear our midfield 3 is a “sitter” and two creative players as far as Collin’s tactics go, so I’m not sure if one midfielder is enough, but if we can only sign one I’d prefer an all rounder who can do both roles effectively rather than a specialist in either. any suggestions?
If Connell is going to be out for a while then I'd look at getting James McCarthy in on loan from Celtic. Bags of experience, can play that sitting role and bring a some leadership. Granted, I don't know what his legs are like now as he's not featured for Celtic in a while though he's played a couple of reserve games recently.
I’d love us to try and prise Teddy Bishop away from Lincoln. They’re not going up this season and he’s been there for a while. Jake Young from Bradford is having a good season and would like to see if he can make the step up. And I know he’s and ex Wendy, but Adam Reach has only played 4 games for West Brom this season. Wonder if he’d consider a loan to get some game time at LWB
El Mizouni, Owen Moxon or slightly more ambitious but I'm a big fan of Charlie Savage at Reading. (They can't start him at the moment as if he hits 15 starts he's due a pay rise and they can't afford that to happen). Elkan Baggot for CB. I like Mattie Pollock too but not sure how realistic that is in terms of a permanent deal. Then another young loan LWB like Dodgson to cover Cadden for season. My main priority would be CM to get someone in to provide cover until season end but also have someone in place should Kane not renew. Try and get ahead of that situation. Edit: Pollock submitted a transfer request today so possibly a lot more realistic that he could leave on a permanent deal
For me we need more quality at CB and up front. I know it won’t happen, but if it were up to me I’d be moving both Cosgrove and Watters out.
Remember Scott Parker killing us for Fulham at Oakwell..think he was 33/34 at the time but strolled around like he owned the pitch...niva broke sweat.
Prosinecki at Oakwell also, must have been knocking on and liked a cig. Standing ovation from all four stands when Portsmouth took him off.
