Fuss pot Lee's second consecutive Oxford vs Barnsley game ended in another victory for the reds.

How did you rate his performance.

Thought he was ok, no more, no less. Sometimes we have to take weather conditions into consideration for the officials as well as the players. He was a little over- fussy at times but I don’t recall him causing me to shout at him and/or use colourful language during the game. It’s a 5 from me.

Some of the bookings were a bit ott. But got to admit i thought Devigney could be walking. Not so sure nearest other defender was cover. Would have to see again..

Was a bit fussy and a bit random in giving fouls both sets of fans unhappy with some of his decisions gave a few soft yellows. Could have given a red when one of their players elbowed Cosgrove in the head and also when Mael hauled their striker down but I think in both cases Yellow was correct
we've had a lot worse but weve also had better - given him a 5 -average score for an average ref

5 - in fairness I think we got the rub of the green with most of the close calls, and you have to admit we would have been raging at some of our timewasting. Could have been a couple of bookings when throwers were gormlessly looking around for ball boys to return the ball, when all the time there were 2 multi-ball cones in touching distance.
Maybe we are the streetwise outfit we were all wanting to be?

So I would understand Oxford giving this ref a poor score so I have gone for a 5.

Oxford fans seemed extremely peeved by a lot of his decisions. I thought he was fussy but generally ok. Important match played in horrendous conditions, and he did ok. 6 for me.

If a player has an average game they get a 6 or a 7, a referee gets a 3, 4 or 5. To get a 7 a referee must be outstanding. 8s, 9s, and 10s are for show and are never used.

Devigney had cover plus it was a very long way from goal, yellow was correct.

Shepherd is definitely covering. In fact, De Gevigney didn't even need to make the foul.

It’s what happens when the bar is set so low. Until we see consistency in many aspects of their game it be be forever thus.

Which is why I would like to see again. As i saw it. (And my memory is not the best.) The foul took place just outside the area. Maybe 25yds from goal. And the covering defender was to the left. (facing goal) and slightly behind the incident.
Tbh I still haven't seen an angle as to who scored. Even though watching it many times. (Same highlight) Mi son said it was clear on tv.
I was there btw. And yes I probably need to go to specsavers lol.

Yes I agree with other poster mate, Shep definitely was covering him. Yellow correct call. Think barring that mistake Mael played very well, as did rest of the starting XI. Can't wait to see him next to Pines, however. Winning challenging headers and some physicality, I think will improve Mael no end.

I actually enjoyed the game last night. And they never really troubled us that first half. A couple of mistakes. But given the conditions not unexpected. Second half was a mare as the wind got a lot worse and hindered us clearing our lines.
I also, sometimes wish our defenders would hoof the ball before it's allowed to bounce. Eg William's got in a bit of bother early doors. And others tend to make the same mistake.
