Playground Games

Humax digital recording boxes are still current,and great tbh.. I've got one, and the telly takes a memory stick that you can record to although I don't use it much with having the Humax.

 

All the virgin/sky/bt etc set-top boxes also record, or am I missing the point?

 

Battleships....using a sheet of paper and a biro. You had to hold the top of the pen and angle it so it slid along the paper leaving an ink trail. You aimed at the opponents drawn on battleship but after about an inch the pen fell over and you'd missed!
Slightly more basic than a playstation 5 but hours of fun for 10 year olds!

 

Another one for Sticks.

Got me thinking what did you call playground free for all knockout football? (e.g. score a goal and get through to next round with the last person being knocked out). At primary school we called it 'World Cup' but at secondary school it was called 'Wembley'.

 

One man web. Or two man web should you be paired.

I've heard it called Wembley, cuppies and togger from mates from other parts of the country.

Punch - that game where we stood round in a circle, a tennis ball is dropped in and everyone has to try and punch it through someone’s legs. Whoever it is then ‘on’, everyone else runs off and they’ve got to chuck the ball at the others making them ‘on’ until there’s one kid left. You could defend yourself from the ball hitting you by punching it away.

 

I was obsessed with cars as a kid. I used to love watching British Touring Cars on a weekend. I'd get auto freeway (free version of auto trader) from the Co-op in Cudworth and take it to school. Then me and my mate would pick a car and have touring car races around the play ground. He'd always pick an Audi A4 and I'd usually pick a Subaru Impreza.
