You were bought as a kid. Mine was a fake Leeds kit off Pontefract Market.

Can't remember if it was my first but I remember getting an Ayr Utd shirt from a stall in the market. This stall had mountains of random shirts. I think my brother and I also got an American team shirt too but can't remember who that was.

Yeah the stall at Pontefract was similar. My next shirt was a Hibernian shirt. When I was a kid it was my Dad's go to thing to buy me as a Birthday gift. I only realised a few years later that I was always a year behind with the shirt he bought me.

Liverpool kit when I was about 9 or 10. Although dad was a BFC fan, and we all followed suit, I always had Liverpool as my Division 1 team. Growing up everyone seemed to have a favourite div 1 team as well as being Reds fans. Hasten to add, replica shirts weren’t really commonplace in the late 60s early 70s

As my Mum and Dad were Leeds supporters when I was a kid, my first football shirt was also Leeds. If only I knew then what I know now! At least I managed to convert them when Clarkey became player/manager of the Reds in 1978 :)

*cough* Liverpool, the Candy one. I loved Ian Rush and Steve Nicol for some reason and our kid liked Everton (idolised Andy Gray!)

I got a BFC 'Shaw Carpets' one and then all was right in my world.

Last one i bought...just got it in the mail, a Marshall Islands kit!

1969, West Ham, hence my soft spot (plain - could easily have been Burnley or Villa)
1972, L**ds. Was more like a plain white shirt though and it definitely doesn't count.
    1977, Liverpool, badge and everything
    1985, Barnsley (Ian Walsh's actual #9). Also Barnsley 2016 and 2023
    1985, Barca (and 2005)
    2004, Portugal
    1990, 1996, 2004, England

91/92 liverpool home shirt, three stripes on one shoulder, Candy sponsor. For my ninth birthday in 1992.

Liverpool won the cup in it. Proceeded to have a few Liverpool shirts after that.

Dad was a liverpool fan; Barnsley didn’t come into the equation until 1994 when I was 11, and I got properly into the game and supporting it from there.

Full "Blackburn Rovers style" home kit circa 1962. God knows why. I'm sure the shirt came from a pair of pyjamas!

I did have a blue and white striped shirt in junior school for which I beg forgiveness!!

You have got to be joking, the only clothes we got were at Whitsun and it certainly didn't stretch to footie shirts.

I think the first would have been Hamilton Accies top as a Christmas present from my Auntie who lived there. I also remember soon after getting the current World Cup winners shirt (in about 1980) but it was too big and then for some reason my parents wouldn't let me wear it a year later when it fitted.

    1991/92 Leeds.
    1991/92 Arsenal Home/ Hibernian Home.
1989/90 Liverpool Candy Shirt. It was an earlier shirt but my Dad saw it was only a tenner.
1994/95 Tottenham Home Shirt (no sponsor). That was my Dads attempt to convert me from Arsenal to Spurs. It worked years later.
1995/96 Liverpool Away shirt. Grandad style with green and white quarters. (Again off the Market).
1995/96 Arsenal Away kit with the blue and turquoise lightning pattern.

That was the last shirt I was bought. All the rest. I've since bought myself. Notice no Barnsley Shirt in that list. That was because the only place you can get them was Barnsley. So it wasn't until I started watching them properly around 2001/2 season I bought my first Barnsley shirt. Admiral ISOFT one.

Got an Everton kit in the late 80s. Might have been after I’d seen them beat Barnsley at Oakwell in the Fa Cup.
