My mate and I were the only late teens that liked old cars... he had a 22 year old 1954 Riley 4/44, and I bought a 1959 Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite that had been off the road for a couple of years.. we towed it home and my wizard of an old man had it running in 2 hrs. I sold it to a guy from Derby in 1979 and it's still on the Austin Healey Register taking part in historic racing. With the money I bought an off the road 1969 Lotus Elan S4, I still own it today.
Me too. Mine was a 1974 M reg Mini 850. Bought it in 1980 and almost drove the wheels off it. Great times.
alfa romeo giulia super.... it wouldha been fifteen years old when i bought it. these were the cop cars that chased michael caine around in the italian job. I didn't look after it. I sold it to an Italian mechanic after I seized the engine.
11 plate BMW 3 series M sport was the first car I had myself. Had been car sharing with my parents before that
30 yrs of age. Vauxhall cavalier. Crashed it into a parked car. Come winter it was snowing and it didn't want to stop lol. A write off.
Ford Fiesta V reg, 1979. Looking back I am sure it was a cut and shut. The front end looked like a Mark I and the back end looked like a Mark II. But it got me through university. I remember driving back from Colchester for the cup replay with Sheffield United in 1990 and on the way back, the exhaust disconnected from the front. Me and my mates arrived back in Colchester at 7am the next day on the back of a low loader. And my mate had an interview in London at 11 haha. Bloody thing had a thing about clutches as well. Burned through 3 a year. Happy days.
