1993 L plate Ford Escort 1.3 three door. Pillar box red. £995. Bought late 2001 when I was 18.

It was fooking shi.te in hindsight. Was barely 8 years old when I got it and it had lost that much power (or never had it) I couldn’t even get over the new Don bridge in donny without dropping down to second - and the heaters didn’t work.

At the time I thought it was the dogs whatsits.

Had it barely a year before the head gasket blew on the A614 going to Nottingham, did one day a week at uni for the job I had at the time. I got my mum to drive down with the log book to pick me up, and signed it over to the guy who came on the rescue van in lieu of paying him - and bought a brand new Corsa SXi.

My first was a viva. HS though as I believe… in Orange.

If I was lucky enough to get to 60, the entire car shook and I felt like I was going to time travel…
