Kane, Benson & Wolfe all injured. Styles not available. How many first team central midfielders are you expecting us to pay the wages of? There’s 7 with them 4, Russell, Phillips & Connell. Even the next in line Yoganathan is currently injured. Why shouldn’t he have been on the bench? Loads of times players are coming back from injury & the manager will openly say ‘he only had 30 mins in him’. The medical team know what they’re doing with players.
Fair enough, we seem to have crossed wires. No, i never thought he was injured, just not likely to have enough in the tank to play for very long given he’s been ill all week. Can criticise some selections. Watters starting, Shepherd playing a longer run than he should expected to, Williams at cb. But I don’t think leaving Connell off until the last 20 minutes can be criticised as it wasn’t a tactical decision.
Full credit to Neil Collins for telling it as it was on Twitter. And I'm not one of the fans calling for his head. He's got a right to expect more time. But that first half was as bleak as it gets. It's a real concern just how poor we can look. And generally do look in periods of almost every game. I think it also needs saying full credit to Exeter. It's the second time in two seasons I've seen them completely out play us over large stretches of the game. Some really good football. Not bad at all for a small club.
He said there was no quality or intensity, how did he expect either with Russell and Watters in the team.
Watters should never wear a Barnsley shirt again. In the future he's going to be up there with the Frinpong, Mido, Oulare brigade as one of the worst signings we ever made...
Watters has looked totally ineffective most of the season. This season minutes per goal Max watters 782 Sam Cosgrove 549
Not seen him mentioned but I thought their 21 Vincent Harper was the best player on the pitch today. Maybe a possible target, think he played as an orthodox left back today but looked very comfortable going forward with the ball.
Harper was their best player and nearly scored his header, despite being the smallest man on the pitch. It was music to my ears when he went off injured, as he was pulling the strings.
Ramblings of someone just got in from a very occasional night out in Town and definitely the worse for wear - we’re not nearly as good as some of us would like us to be but equally not anywhere near as bad as the miserable lot of some on here would have us believe or we wouldn’t be 5th in the league. It’s going to be a roller-coaster ride between now and the end of the season so strap yourselves in and see where it takes us. We’ve no divine right to finish in the top two and today’s performance suggests that a play- off place may be the best we can do - if so then so be it. Let’s just see what happens and go with it - it’s not life and death.
I was surprised when I looked him up. I expected him to be a loanee from a prem or championship side but he was playing at Eastleigh until last summer & according to Wikipedia that was only his 7th Exeter appearance. Looks a cracking find by then
If we're analysing goals watters scored a keeper howler and a tap in to a open goal. I can't remember his other. I was pretty harsh to watters at first this season as he looked like a raffle winner. I got pelters with people defending him. I'm past criticising him he's just really bad. He must do something in training to start games.
still 4 x more. In fairness either should be near the starting 11 and Jalo should be first choice sub. Both have had enough chances.
Watters has 3 Cosgrove has 1. I agree with that but I thought Cosgrove did okay yesterday but should have scored at least 2.
