Will give the board until midnight, but as things stand, this month once again has shown the ambition, a bit like last January, they don’t have any! Last year we could have got top two, Ipswich and Plymouth made sure they did!!
Ahh, that word ambition again. In the summer, people were saying we should show the same 'ambition' as the Charlton board. Whilst it's early in the day, we've not lost anyone of any note, despite having half a squad out of contract in the summer. The only one rumoured to be leaving is Styles, who isn't even an automatic starter. Our weakest area of the pitch is at centre half; we've signed a full international centre back, and appear to be on the verge of signing another with a few years playing at this level and above under his belt. For me, another option in the middle and one up front, and we're good to go. How does that demonstrate a lack of ambition?
Pines isn’t even fit for one thing, and he’s played in America, let’s see how good he is and how quick he settles into the league! Time is running out for finishing top 2!
I think there's no point of an autopsy until someone is actually dead. Why dissect the window now when it doesn't shut until 11pm?
You never know who Barnsley have up their sleeve. One minute everyone is predicting the usual suspects and the next Amine Bassi and his marvelous moustache is announced. They have a history of being unpredictable.
There's 18 games to make up 5 points, bearing in mind we've to play the team currently in second twice. Regardless, and as much as I'd much prefer to go up automatically, the ambition is to get back to the Championship. So top 6 is the bare minimum.
Agree with all of that but the key bit is additional options in the middle and upfront. Will we get them….?
The fact that there appears to be truth in us at least enquiring about Byers, and the links to Niall Ennis (though I'm sceptical about that one), suggests we're trying to. I reckon it'll be a couple of loan deals.
Glass half full glass half empty syndrome how you can tell when the glass is still been poured is beyond me. Time to judge either way because it's still in the balance is the truth just chill there's bugger all we can do.
He's not injured, he just needs a pre season. I'll be surprised if he's not starting against Leyton Orient. Hopefully Earl can be signed in time to play Bolton. Not sure what the point is about he's played in America?
Different era I know, but one of our worst ever windows was a January. When our entire midfield was decimated in the space of 2 or 3 days.
Think we'll only recruit in midfield and up top if there are departures. If Styles stays we'll stick with what we have and same with the strikers. Saw Watters linked to Cambridge and Wimbledon......here's hoping.
I can’t see us signing a forward. We’ve got 5 who’ll be on proper wages now Jalo’s signed his new deal & we’ve got two out on loan whose wages were no doubt subsidising. If you’re expecting one to sign I think you’ll be disappointed. We need a central midfielder for depth if Styles is leaving as we can’t rely on Benson & Wolfe for back up & it looks like we’ve solved our left sided issue with the lad from Fleetwood. That’ll be it I imagine.
