He did lack end product when he was with us but he was only a kid in his first season at championship level. Gone on to do well like many young lads we’ve had on loan
You mean like that turn and shot on goal against Leeds. Loved him when he was at Oakwell. We never seem to get loans like Kent, Hammill, Barnes, Brownhill, Fletcher any more. The top notch loans in our league end up at Bolton.
He was when he was here. Was it 1 goal in 15 games. He has said himself he had a poor attitude when he was with us. He didn't really start hitting the back of the net until about 2 years after he had left us.
Just had a look lazio are 7th in serie A. And have had a 14million pound bid for Jack Clarke rejected hence why they have probably gone for Kent. Lazio is a good move but the Italian league is no where near as good as it used to be in the 90s.
He didn't start regularly for us he was 19 we had better strikers at the time. I thought he always looked like he had potential big, strong, fast. I remember when we sold kieffer moore and we were linked to him at Peterborough I think we actually enquired about him. Many on this board we spitting feather and mocking him. He went to Brentford the rest is history. He definitely wasn't as bad as many make out just very young and raw.
We actually did go back in for him when he was at Peterborough, darragh mcanthony said so, toney was willing to join us but darragh advised him to wait 6 more months and he could go to a better club. Worked out well for him (assuming we're trusting darragh)
It's picking back up, more Italian teams getting to the latter stages of the champions league these days
It was a good competitive league in the 90s some really good teams and some of the best players were there. Possibly is picking back up though napoli we're a strong side last season in Europe.
I don't know many players who are at their peak of professional football at 19.. if you know any though?
Really frustrating player for me when with us. Bags of talent left defences standing. But final ball let him down more often than not.
