Who in BFC's marketing department thinks this hanging on to the last minute to announce a signing on Deadline Day is smart ? The first year we pulled this stunt it was quite exciting. But now a few deadline days after it is dull. I think lots of us fans would appreciate quick resolution, in terms of signings. I also find it hard to believe that transfer transactions which can take all summer, can be thrashed out in a few hours on deadline day.
I actually don’t think we’ve got anything else lined up. We’ve got a very good midfield and a defence that has had two additions. The attack has numbers but it includes one of the best strikers in the league, McAtee who has been superb since end of October, a long term contact in Watters, a highly regarded young lad and Cosgrove who we have spend a fair amount of wages on since last summer. Only way I can see is we loan Watters or Cosgrove out.
It would be crazy not to bring a centre mid in at least on loan, with styles going and only having Russell. It would be a massive gamble to not have any of our current midfield not to pick up an injury for the rest on the season. It would also be wise to give are self an option on the bench to change any midfielder and not weaken the team as we have seen already this season.
Believe all you want. Pine signed early. Earl signs today. Played for Fleetwood last Saturday. And what makes you think anyone else is coming. Not one of the supposed prime assets has left us either as it stands. Quite possibly business is done. Lots of action in the last couple of hrs Is not reserved to just us. The printer/whatever method they use these days. will be on fire from now till 11. At lots of clubs. Maybe ours is not one of em. The McBurnie issue was a prime example of trying to get it over the line before close of play. I remember Wilder saying a player was supposed to sign for Sheffield utd in the last hr or so. (Yrs ago) Taxi waiting at train station. Player got train back home without meeting the club. And club unable to get a suitable replacement in time. Players hold all the cards. Some clubs changing/upping agreed fees. Some will be having medicals as I write. Great read of a typical deadline day for clubs. https://bleacherreport.com/articles...ed-boss-chris-wilder-on-transfer-deadline-day
I'd love a striker but he's got to be better than what we have...personally I'd play cosgrove every game...there's a striker in there I'm sure...watters should be shipped out he's garbage. I think collins is relying on Benson coming good
Personally don't get all the clammer, some folk have been on constant page refresh for the past few weeks at least it seems that way, we've sorted the defence out which was a priority. If there is more to come fair do's the way the market is means it usually goes to the wire in which case the deals might not get announced until tomorrow, no big deal either way, I'm guessing media team have homes and lives to go to
I’m with you on Cosgrove . I’m not talking top end championship but I am sure he has the ability to do a good job in league one
Judge us by our actions eh, if the powers that be think the current squad is good enough for promotion then they need a look at themselves
Cosgrove can be so Frustrating, been better of late but infuriating at times when he doesn't play to the whistle and just rolls around looking for a soft free kick, got the muscle to be a handful if he applied it correctly, should be creating much more.
5th in the table, 8 points off of top with 2 games in hand, 4th best GD, I’d say we’re doing alright.
I'm actually fine if we go with what we've got. The main issue was height, pace and experience in central defence. That's exactly what we've brought in. I'm firmly in the "Cosgrove will come good" camp, which will be like signing a new striker. I also fully expect Adam Phillips' upturn in form to continue, bearing in mind we should be able to play a lot more on the front foot with our new defenders. I'm also excited to see Jordan Williams return to right back. Imagine being a defender playing against his pace for 70 minutes, and then we bring Cotter on.
Judge is by our actions could of course be relating to their actions when putting up the money that kept us afloat. So actually yeah I will judge them by their actions.
Bang on, sorting that back 3 was pivotal I'd expect us to be much more solid giving players like Phillips more licence and see us take the handbrake off more, I'm not suggesting players still haven't got to put the graft in and do the defensive stuff but it must surely give the midfielders a bit more confidence to go for it knowing there is a bit more of a spine to the team.
We are 5th with a makeshift defence that terrifies us every time a cross comes in. We have just signed 2 tall and mobile defenders for this season and not as future prospects. I am looking forward to seeing them play together and the effect that actually having a defence will have on the rest of the team.
