For a start how do you know i haven't seen earl. All i am saying is why waste money when lopata hasn't been given a chance since his injury

But if he turns out to be better than Lopata then we clearly wouldn't have wasted money

We've played with 3 CB's all season so far, and will probably continue to do so.

You genuinely don't think we have a chance of promotion?

Not as much as a chance as last season. We’re weaker then last year and wasn’t good enough 12 months ago.

But it was a 10 million defence mate. Not to mention a keeper who is now playing very well for a team vying for promotion in the championship, who was and still is incredibly underrated by our fan base. We were always going to face challenges.

Doesn't that mean that the plan was to play kitching out of position instead then?

As I said, I’m not expecting that £10 million to be replaced in terms of quality but I do expect the three coming in to be able to be good enough for a top two spot in League 1. De Gevigney, Williams and McCart as a back three isn’t.

Maybe that is why we have signed Pines and Earl....

It's an odd decision to let him go and one of the very few where it looks as if the Coach has had a say I would think. Collins clearly doesn't fancy him if he couldn't get into that fragile defence then there's no point in him being here.

Pretty obvious really mate. Given we were looking at bringing others in. Most of em wouldnt have been getting any game time staying with us.

I can’t get my around this idea that Lopata was supposedly our best defender before his injury. I posted on here about how much better we looked for having a defender who could do something with the ball as soon as De Gevigney got his spot in the middle of the back 3.

I’ve nothing against Lopata, he’s still young & will hopefully play games & improve but he was the weakest link at the back for me & it makes sense to get him games.
