    I’m sure if a better offer was on the table we would have taken it.

    Frankly, I think they’ve had their bellies tickled paying his wages for half a season based on his performance outside of a purple patch under Val.

    I can't even begin to comprehend the posters on here who talk of a "loan with an obligation to buy" - why would anyone oblige themselves to buy a player at a later date ? Only a nutter would agree to those terms terms: I would be "exercised" if BFC signed a a contract in toise terms...

    Plenty of discussions about loans etc on TalkSport today.

    Down to FFP, SCMP and how lots of clubs are doing it for various reasons.

    If Styles wanted to go, especially with him going into the Euros, then you have to work it out.

    He’ll have signed his new contract the other season with some agreement here about playing higher up when offered etc.

    Could have been worse, look at his predecessor at Sunderland Alex Pritchard told the club last Friday he was no longer available for selection, joined Birmingham on loan to play under Mowbray talk about under handed tapping up then forcing the issue.
    Sadly that's the game now, I'm past losing sleep over those not wanting to be here

    He didn't join them on loan he's signed with Birmingham permanently.

    Fair play, did not want to play for the shirt. Not a cat in hell's chance he's worth £2 million on what I've seen. Decent L1 wing back is all I've seen since lockdown TBH.

    It’s a good move for Styles and fair play to the lad, he’s got a bit of ambition about him, so he really needs to be somewhere other than Oakwell. Not sure it helps us in too many ways though, if the objective is to get up.

    It's fair to say though that by and large he's been immensely disappointing in a BFC shirt since 2021.

    That was a bit different though. It only went through as a loan initially because of time constraints.

    Was Woodrow signed on an "obligation to buy" basis ? I don't know - but, if he was, then we surely must have got rid of the person who arranged the deal by now.
    Why would any club agree to buy a player in the future they didn't want to buy now ? No-one in their right mind would commit to signing a player some time in the future if they were committed to signing them now. This "obligation to nuy" is a fantasy of people who have never done a business deal in their life - or maybe only rotten ones.

    Whilst they may wish to buy now, a club may not have the finances currently to go ahead so loan now and buy at an agreed point in the future enables them to push the payment period out?
