following on from the posts about the LED advertising long screens around the pitch...

Notice the long screens along the bylines? They weren't really there. only to be seen on ifollow. Sometimes a player would run through them like a ghost. The ads for Skybet. They were there all game. Visual pollution.

You mean the things on the ground that are made to look like boards on TV but they're just flat images?

They've been there for years if it's what I'm thinking of

these 'boards' look like advertising boards but there is nothing on the ground in reality... they are just added to the ifollow images electronically. You are probably saying the same thing... it is difficult to describe..

like, if you were at Oakwell there is nothing on the byline just one foot from the line.... but on ifollow there is a full complment of advertising boards that don't move...

Aren't they just mats on the ground that look like boards?

Something like that. They're definitely there though, not only visible on iFollow

They're mats along the pitch, made to look 3d on TV. They've been around for years (I actually think I first saw them at Huddersfield in 2000). I'm fairly certain we have them at Oakwell. Here's them at Port Vale. markup_1000025035.jpg

NRL games in Australia have big ads all over the pitch on live games that arnt actually there. When play shown on a different camera angle it's just normal grass

I wonder why ours are different though. Like who decides whether it's a sheet of polythene laid on the floor or an actual 3d giant toblerone like ours

I saw it a couple of weeks ago during an A League football match. The digital 'boards' were on the byline. Players sometimes ghosted straight through the ad. When the close up camera was was used the advertising wasn't there. I think that is what I saw at Bolton, but not as definate because there is only one camera used on ifollow.
