    Jordan Brown at Luton.

    Etan Pinnock at Brentford.

    Mason Holgate at Sheff Utd.

That's just the Premier League and some those came through our academy.

You missed Carlton Morris at Luton too another good bit of business should have sold him for a bit more

Yep. The clubs had some stick again this week but over the years it's done quite a bit more right. I'm one of the most fickle and quick to pounce but just watching the Wednesday game tonight brought it home.

I think if you look at the recruitment after that Wilson mark 2 relegation that was the point the club really took over the recruitment moving away from xyz manager signing his mates, sure we've had some duds always will happen but in general in that period we've had 2 promotions from this level, a champ play off, almost a 3rd L1 promotion (Wednesday ********s) and a pizza cup so your on the money generally speaking its been decent, our last relegation could be attributed in part to Conway by all accounts going away from the spreadsheet and going crazy resulting in iseka oloure signings.

Maybe that's why bigger clubs have loaned us players and we've signed some of the players we have. Nurturing talent in the main is something we've been good at. That's down to the recruitment. Barring the Conway brain farts. You're spot on.

Another I like but not from a financial stand point is we don't stand in players ways.

You'd have to say last season's play-off final defeat was a major setback because we lost Kitching and Thomas on the strength of that who are both playing at Coventry.

Glad people see this too. I think we've done some exceptional work in the transfer market. Look at Mael, Connell, Roberts, McAtee for us now.

Big issue for me was selling them on the cheap - hated it. I partly understood it, but we definitely should have got more for a lot of those players. However, this new board, I'm very happy with in this regard. Got really good money for Andersen & especially Kitching. Signed Styles up to a new contract to be able to get maximum profit on him (hopefully), signed up Connell to a new contract, doing well loaning out players who need game time and most of all, keeping all our players who are on 6 month contracts - surely nobody can accuse them of having no ambition, because undoubtedly we'd have got some money for them instead of risking losing them for nothing if we don't achieve promotion. Only issue is, if they do leave on a free, sections of the fan base will bemoan the fact we didn't sell them for some coin, then the exact same section of the fanbase would bemoan the fact we've sold them with 6 months left on their contract because we have no ambition and all owners care about is $$$.

Look at Cole as a prime example, myself included thought it was a strange signing at the time, struggled in that championship season but then again Haaland would have struggled in that team that year, signed Cole for free people not bothered about him 2 good seasons on he'll get a far better offer than we could match, he holds all the cards tbf. We can't force him to sign the club have to put an offer forward based on worse case scenario which is us being in L1 with a L1 wage structure, good luck to lad done well here, it happens, even at the bigger clubs on an even bigger financial scale

I'm fairly sure the Hill/Flitcroft period did plenty to convince Patrick to change course.

From Hill reneging on the deal to sign Trippier and instead paying more for Wiseman, to the Mike Pollitt fiasco under Flicker, you can see why he concluded we needed a separate team running recruitment. Especially with doses of Done, McNulty and Etuhu.

As the OP points out, our record for signing quality players since around that time is pretty exceptional. Even though other clubs have forged similar means, we obviously still have something that helps us gain advantage.

The weakness has been getting the most out of those players while they're here, for longer, and getting more for selling them. Definite signs of improvement there too.

Your right, management changes often brought with it changes to the playing side too, always remember the dead fish eye quote from Patrick, too many players just here for the ride

Recruitment is not the issue largely. It is retention. It's hard to do a lot about that. Cole, Kane, Williams, etc will probably walk in the summer.

Is that true?! That’s the most depressing thing I have heard all week.
Although seeing Clark and Berry playing in the Premier League when they never established themselves with us was a close second.

It’s been mentioned a couple of times. We tried to sign the full Rochdale side his first pre season. Went in for Craig Dawson who he had on loan from West Brom that summer as well. Would have been the only decent signing as well as trying for O’Grady before actually signing him whenever later.
