You never see anyone especially keepers sent off for time wasting, but a player complaining about the opposition time wasting.. your off. Strange.
One occasion at 1-0, I watched the clock when their keeper had it. He held it for 11 seconds AFTER laying on the floor for about the same length of time. The 6 second rule brought in a number of years ago was one of the best they have thought of. What happened to it?
Don't think it exists any more. I haven't seen a keeper pulled up for it for years. I also missed the new rule where it says that two handed shoves in the back as the ball comes are now deemed acceptable but they clearly are because it happens without punishment multiple times a game these days.
I think the rule still exists. It should apply once the goalie has control of the ball. It's Just not enforced by the refs. Farce. Most if not all refs ignore it .
I think we should, as a whole crowd, get into the habit of shouting out a count when the ball is in the keepers hands. One....two.....three....four.... See how long it is before the keeper stops risking it.
We checked the clock too and timed one at 25 seconds. At 2-1 down he released it after 2 seconds. The 6 second rule is a waste of time, like fould throws or defenders obstructing the striker to ‘shepherd’ the ball out. The latest one that refs seem to ignore is defenders holding strikers when defending a corner. They should start giving penalties, as it would soon stop.
There used to be a prem player who used to do it (can't remember who though)....,he shouted it out and illustrated at the same time with his hand in the air and displaying the digits of his fingers.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Ref! Don’t you know the rules. Although that ref today would probably be walking round the Ponty booking the fans…
Maybe a job for the stadium announcer guy. I doubt there’s anything in the EFL rules to prevent this from happening. Especially if the countdown is in French.
On a completely different subject. I went to watch Emley last week and they let dogs in. The dogs had to enter the ground through the turnstiles. Turns out, you don't need separate turnstiles for dogs, there's a human/dog hybrid system. I immediately checked the club shop, but alas, no hatmasks.
“You’re not fit to referee” belted out loudly so it surprised me that he didn’t keep playing until they got an equaliser.
None of us know what he said to the ref. If he said “Excuse referee, but is it double standards to expect us to not celebrate a goal yet not do anything about the numerous occasions Orient we’re wasting time”. Instead I expect the passion of the goal and righteousness indignation probably meant he said something a bit over the top.
