Just driven right past it. No matter what your feelings about Rangers, it's one incredible bit of architecture. Absolutely beautiful red brick facades. Brutal and imposing.
No substitute for proper football grounds. For me you can keep your new stadiums with symmetrical lines and concourses but older grounds that have grown and developed organically like Anfield, Ibrox and St. James Park hold much more sway with me. One of the best for me outside the Premier League that I have experienced first hand is Ashton Gate.
I wasn't even trying to see it. On my way to Glencoe, driving round the edge of Glasgow and made a slight detour to get some fuel. Drove out of the petrol station and had to go round a small one-way system to get back on the main road and suddenly there it was on my right. Would love to go to a match there, must be some experience.
Never been to Villa Park but the photos I've seen of the outside look very similar to Ibrox. Not surprising as they were both designed by Leitch I believe.
Attended Villa Park for the last ever European Cup Winners Cup final - Lazio for Mallorca. Great ground
Been to the Temple of Doom on 8 occasions and sat in all the Stands. I felt a bit like I imagine Martin Luther King would have done at a Ku klux klan rally. incidentally I wouldn’t describe it as old. Other than the facade of the Main Stand, it’s been wholly redeveloped.
I hate the club and all it stands for but I'll admit the facade of the Main stand is a beauitful piece of architecture though sadly it's aesthetics have been compromised by the unsympathic third tier extention.
