Only just finished on my stream. In general I thought we looked really good tonight but I'm afraid we needed to win it. Good going forward; shaky defensively for example we cleared corners ok but straight to their men. A better team won't waste as many 2nd waves as Shrewsbury did. Commentators mentioned "Williams got that all wrong" and he could have meant any one of ten phases. As for this fabled 'speed at the back' of JW well he looked to be going backwards, through treacle, with lead boots on for one attack. HE'S A PHECK1NG RIGHT WING BACK. And a good one. If Barry Cotter is the answer, then Christ knows what the question is. Cosgrove needed to score. I keep giving him time but I'm losing patience. Kane MOM. Their keeper was booked for taking too long after 60 odd minutes. Then proceeded to increase his delay by 15 seconds per play and ended up keeping them in it. But yes, we looked like a decent side despite all that, and notwithstanding YET ANOTHER pensive start defensively on another night we could have scored ten.
Just lacked the end product imho.....their keeper in fantastic form (again) ...looked like we would end with nothing after 20 odd shots but great full for the point in the end I guess. Played some decent stuff and stretched them well...thought Earl and Kane were good for us.
I think we are a bit of a nearly team at the moment. We would probably look much better next season (in either league) if it wasn’t for the inevitability of losing the likes of Kane, Cole, Williams ( we will miss him despite being played out of position) and probably Cadden. Knowing that yet again we will struggle to hold onto key players is just as frustrating as tonight’s lack of a cutting edge when it mattered the most.
I honestly thought they looked just as likely to score as us second half. , we didn’t have the quality in the final third but a win at Fleetwood on Saturday and I’d have taken 4 points from these two away games we just aren’t good enough to blow teams away and that includes bottom half teams.
A nearly team sums it up, we’ve too many players who are average at this level, & if we did somehow manage to go up we’d just be the whipping boys of the Championship again unless we have an exceptional summer recruitment, in other words spend some money. Unlikely though.
Pathetic from ref that. 4 sub stoppages, 2 bookings for time wasting and just 4 minutes. I was expecting 7
Kane is becoming the new Woodrow when it comes to converting every penalty!. If you put it in context, its a decent 4 points from these last two games. But in fairness, I was expecting us to win tonight.
I think many were, but they did draw at Derby on Saturday. Having said that, a combination of good goal-keeping, poor decision making etc cost us the win even though they did have a couple of chances as well
The biggest difference I saw tonight was we didn't labour about ducking around passing it around the defence and look boring. We actively sped things up, and looked to press and push forward at every given opportunity. Some of our play around the pitch was much much better than at the beginning of the season put it that way. So I'm certainly happy with the progress last few weeks. And long may it continue
JAQ posted about her frustration on Twitter and basically every reply is saying we should’ve spent money in January. Do they know how much money she (and others) have put in to keep the doors open?
Definitely one of his better games for us and is a much more complete footballer than Cotter will ever be infact if it wasn’t for his long throws I wouldn’t have Cotter anywhere near the first team.
And yet they continue down the same well-worn Cryne-inspired pathway of unsustainability and reliance on one-off player sales to prop up the business as the gradual decline in quality and expectations continue. They would have significantly increased their prospects of operating somewhere near breakeven next financial year with some astute business in January. The manager has deserved their backing and perhaps if they were to give that we might not see every manager jumping ship at the first sight of a better resourced organisation.
He couldn't be more on the right if he wanted too, he is having a poor season. Way below previous standards.
So when Cole doesn't score there are two other players in the squad who can... that's why we're second top scorers in the division.
