I read somewhere... Can't remember where! that in a questioned group..of Americans.. 82% think the earth is spherical.
2% of those questioned firmly believe that the earth is flat.

I really want to try and think what the 16% remaining think :D

Am I right in thinking this is a thinly veiled dig at those on here who still think we’re not yet out of the race for automatic promotion? Or am I getting a little paranoid in my old age?

If the Earth is/was flat then surely all we need to do to solve the problem of the huge floating plastic island in the Pacific is just push it over the side? Plastic pollution solved.

Is this another way of asking if there are still believers in the footballing merits of Cosgrove and Watters?

Is Watters injured, by the way?

Not a flat earther by any stretch of the imagination. However, there's one point that these folks make that does strike a chord with me. How does the Earth have an atmosphere (gas) around it, smack next to a near perfect vacuum. As we all can fathom, gas requires a container, otherwise it will disperse, coupled with the fact that a vacuum has a "pulling" effect, surely all the atmosphere would just immediately disperse off into space.

That's the only point I've ever heard that's never been answered as far as I'm aware.

Simple enough answer. The Earth's gravitational pull keeps it in place.
