Managers aren't the only staff member jumping ship. My biggest concern, is if we don't go up, our better out of contract players will leave and then they will inevitably be replaced by players who are worse at the time of signing but with the usual gubbins about them being ones for the future. Meaning the team will get worse in the short term. Hope I'm wrong, we'll see over the next few months.
Just had a look at the Shrewsbury forum and they pretty much accept that a draw was a fair result got to be honest that’s the most one sided away game I’ve ever seen us play. They are praising their keeper but in between some saves I would expect him to make he made some absolute howlers he managed to drop a ball when under no pressure and absolutely flapped a ball in the first half when Cole got the offside flag against him. Weirdly my history at Shrewsbury is now one loss and one draw so hopefully next time it’s a Barnsley win. Hopefully it’s not next season though.
I don’t understand the love in on both forums with their goalkeeper either. He made one absolutely top drawer save, a few routine ones, and dropped a couple and got lucky. I don’t think we created too many clear cut chances tonight despite the possession and territory. I would argue they had the better chances 2nd half with Roberts needed more than once and one of their lads somehow heading wide from about a yard. Draw a fair result mind as I don’t think either team particularly deserved the win. As for how good a result it is, it depends on your aims. A decent point if you’re thinking top 6, but a disastrous night if you’re thinking top 2, which is now a massive ask.
Totally agree. Some people thought it was achievable for us to make up points on the teams above us. Tonight sadly not to be and dropped points again. We don’t have enough quality. At best play offs for us and that lottery once again.
Now that we’ve exorcised the demon that prevented us from winning after going behind, we seem to have lost all inhibition and generally start games with a ‘see what happens’ attitude. I’m sure it’s not in the game plan, but it’s been evident in quite a few games of late. I’m not going to criticise the lads tonight. They know we need to start games better, and also make better use of the superior possession and great positions we got ourselves into. On balance, I don’t think we ‘stole a point’ as one reds fan said at the ground, because we had ample chances to score, but I don’t think our sloppiness deserved anything more than the draw. Anyway, on to Fleetwood
I normally call the Play offs a 'lottery' as well, but are they really ?. Yeah Sheff Wensdy were extremely lucky to win them last season, but normally I think its the better teams who win them because they've deserved it. If we don't make it to them this season, then maybe some important questions are going to be asked. But we'll cross that if or when we get to it!.
Just one of them days. I do think we need pines in and move williams on the right. People are moaning about lack of back up meaning strikers but watters and cosgrove should be more than good enough at this level. They need to start chipping in.
Or Collins needs to stop giving them minutes and move on to the academy lads who can't perform any worse
Well what can i say been away for a month and was reight looking forward to the match and i fell asleep on the sofa. C,O,Y,R.
And who do you propose from academy to come in and immediately do a job at this vital stage of season?
Given the amount of goals we are scoring in the last third of a game, maybe they are contributing in different ways which enables others to chip in.
Yeah, these owners are pocketing fortunes aren’t they? It’s not like the club have more money going out than coming in on a daily basis is it?
Let's not forget, the side currently in second have dropped 4 points vs Shrewsbury this season, including a draw at home to them at the weekend. We have won those games consistently throughout the season, with a handful of draws in their for good measure. I think for me, the way we make the step to the next level is by beating the teams around us. Starting with Derby next weekend.
The club is actually objectively losing money. I don’t get how clear this needs to be for people. They are not pocketing transfer money. The money from player sales is going into the general running costs of the club. And that money is not enough therefore the owners have to put their own money in to keep the club running. It is costing them money.
Was it a ‘disastrous’ point for Derby on Saturday then? There are still enough games left to ‘ make points up’ on top 2. If some fans want to give up hope of a top 2 finish, that’s obviously up to them. I believe things can and will change at the top between now and end of season and hopefully we will be there.
And the only way they can return to operationally breaking even year by year is to either massively cut costs or return to the Championship. I don't get how clear this needs to be for people.
What like last season? We’ve had a better season that many could’ve hoped for. We are in a commanding position to claim a play-off spot, a top 2 finish is still within our reach. This achieved with the loss of practically all of the defence in the summer and early Season, the Head Coach. I’m as disappointed as everyone else about The number of home losses and dropped points against opposition we thought we might beat, but we keep hearing the league table doesn’t ’t lie, well perhaps it doesn’t?
