I’m glad you’ve posted this because it’s been baffling me to read people saying Williams is dropping clangers every match & that De Gevigney has been excellent.

It’s wild that people think he’ll suddenly turn into Cafu once he’s at right back. I have a memory of him being bang average in that position.

I know we’ve had injuries to defenders but I’m
amazed we’ve not had anyone who we could’ve tried there. Playing someone out of position who practically gives a goal away or makes enough mistakes to give a goal away by himself ever game is crazy to persist with. Failed experiment has cost us a lot of points this season the sooner Williams is at rwb the better.

I watched the goal back and I think the only thing Williams did wrong was get in the way of Cadden's last itch clearance (whatever it was). Had he not been there Cadden could have done a Cruyff turn and cleared it. Then again maybe not. I think it's harsh criticism to be honest. (I'm normally first to tell something it's Babba).

    Thread headed:

How we miss Connell when he’s not available

    From Tuesday

    Post no.25

    Full quote:
"I have to agree with the other lad. MDG does some good things but on Saturday failed to put a tackle in or at least prevent monaural from squaring the ball. Last night he was weak as piss for there goal zero effort made to tackle the player. So for the last 2 goals we have conceded he's been a big part of those."

I'm not sure whether "Monaural" is a dig at Moncur - is he deaf in one ear?

Fair to say Williams was blamed for the goal against Orient where Mael appeared to have some sort of seizure and fell to the floor and for the porous nature of the defence when Cadden scored an OG. He’s the latest whipping boy. It’s boring if predictable

I’m talking in relation to Williams last 10 or so games and not specifically the goal midweek. I’m just amazed he’s retained his position week in week out and actually feel sorry for him as it’s blatantly obvious he’s no where near good enough in that position.

Yet as a right wing back he's class. You don't think we're devaluing him to make him look crap so he'll sign a new contract. We play him at RWB he excels again and we sell him at a tidy profit?

No not at all he’s a really good rwb at league one level and ok at championship level. There’s a reason we’ve still got hold of him 6 years after signing he’s not good enough to force a move (I’ve same opinion on styles) thing I’ve learnt if players are good enough we’ll see them in a Barnsley shirt 2 to 3 years maximum. Barnsley’s a strong side at league 1 level and poor at championship hence our yo-yo status which represents the level Williams is at.

Monaural was predictive text on a Samsung. And I can't remember actually saying weak as piss.
Alot of people seem very eat up that I've actually questioned MDG for the Shrewsburys goal but don't mind hammering Williams week after week. I will post a link of the Shrewsburys goal again make your own mind up. My opinion is when you come towards the ball from center back to win it in that situation you have to or your out of position and your in trouble. Your opinion is it was all Williams fault. That's fine.

Who's the latest whipping boy Williams? Seems every goal we concede people want to put the blame on him for it.

Unfortunately the other two who have alternated playing there haven't been good enough to be classed as 'bang average'

That response is quite frankly idiotic.

Firstly I've just shown you what you posted about "weak as piss". You think that saying you "can't remember" posting it, when it's there for the whole world to see that you posted it, gets you off the hook?

I don't mind you thinking he's "weak as piss" - it's your opinion. We can argue about that. I do mind you denying you said it. That's not a good look.

Secondly, nowhere at all, ever, have I posted that Shrewsbury's goal was "all Williams fault". Never. Not least because I don't believe it was.

Listen I'm more defending Williams than slating MDG who I think has done quite well in a barnsley shirt after a shakey start.
On the other thread I defended Williams and said MDG failed to put a tackle in on 2 occasions. You made up a scenario where the ball bounced to the Shrewsburys player who crossed for the goal when that didn't happen. MDG failed to make the tackle and the player passed it to the man who crossed the ball.

I then said Collins was right on here for not publicly slating players and someone followed me around this board.

Well at least we agree on something it wasn't all Williams fault. It wasn't all MDGs fault either. You coul also ask questions of where was Russell in cdm picking up those balls or why was Roberts glued to his line when the ball comes in. But not every goal can just be pinned on one player like folk on here like to do.

Williams is a good player at rwb he was probably the best rwb in the division last season. Good players don't turn bad overnight the sooner pines is fit or mccart and he goes to rwb the better im and it takes him away from been the easy target too.
