We can blather about this as much as we want. It doesn't take away the fact that the biggest question (if you believe the benefits bill is too high) is: is the Country prepared to stop benefits to those who are in receipt of Old Age Pensions. That's where the money is - and I ask this as one who is rapidly heading towards receipt!

No not at all. It’s the easiest one to catch and usually the ones that get prosecuted. Most pensioners there is no desire within local councillors or the DWP to prosecute so while they may have fiddled thousands they get a slap on the wrists and a caution. Was very frustrating as an investigator.

I detest the goverment calling the old age pension a benefit, more so if the ones getting there pensions have paid in for 30 years or more, or 35 years as it is now, and many have worked much more than that

I’d agree but it’s how the govt describes it and budgets for it.

Agree Another thing that gets me is the scotes in the town center who walk around drinking super strength larger with no intention of working, well I don't think they have a days work in them. If they live long enough to retirement age and they end up needing to be looked after. Old Doris who's worked all her life will have to sell her home she's worked for to pay her cate but them lot won't.

And there mate is the problem. Working class people like us get a nice house and a good car and suddenly think there one of this set of B#%*&@'s. The upper class blue bloods can't get in unless deluded working class voters vote for em. I kno one and in discussion he can't tell ya why he votes for em....

That's because most bigots won't openly admit to being bigots. But I assure you it's the reason the vast majority of their working class voters vote for them.

It's true that during Brexit the Tory media had a field day in many northern towns where the number one issue was immigration and what were grass root Labour voters were championing Johnson....lets hope they see the light this time.

It is mate, it also works in there favour when justifying increasing the pension age, people just see " Benefit cut" or " Benefit age increase"

It's a good way of casting the line out for a few bites before the election.
It worked with the Brexit fiasco .

I think threads like this are a great idea. When the Tories read working class people slagging off other working class people about benefits etc while their mates and paymasters get away with murder,,,, there's always a chance that they might die laughing!!

I don't see anyone slagging working class people off about benefits.

Fun fact. You are allowed to despise of the corrupt criminal rich while also being against benefits cheats, or fraudsters to give them their correct name.

Not my point, its an example of the working class doing the the Tories job (and the Tory press for that matter) for them.

i'm loving the "Reform Party". Not sure what their mandate is, but I can see it bringing great results at the next election.

No, the honest truth. You have a far right Tory party, with their "stop the boats" rhetoric, which is clearly not working / happening & a further right party, (if that could be humanly possible), saying they are not right enough. It is brilliant. If they can split the vote down the country, I'll be delighted TBH.
