Perhaps instead of board I should have used the word group. Given what has been put out on multiple occasions by multiple people at the club, I would have assumed it would have been a combination of Bobby, JC, Collins included in that decision I would have assumed (amongst others) would be, what impact on team/squad, how much will he cost etc. As an example as a DM you would expect he would not be first choice so if he was gonna cost us £5k a week (I have no idea), it may have been deemed not best use of money.
Is that an issue? That's how our club has operated for the last 10 or so years. Neill knows that. The fans should know that by now. That's how most football clubs operate now. A lot of assumptions are being made. One being whether this is true or not. Another being that Neill Collins was insistent that we signed said player; it could be that he'd been offered said player, put it to the board, and they've vetoed it on the basis that we don't know enough about the player. Say we didn't use data, this would be the same as signing a player without doing any scouting on him. The OP seems to suggest that we've mugged Neill Collins off, when that's not necessarily the case. Mountain out of a molehill this I reckon.
Isnt it common knowledge the scouting/analyst team selects a plethora of players, in the positions we need, and then whoever our manager is chooses out of those selected as his preference?
My understanding in simplistic terms is: Manager identifies position Analysts/Scouting identify players DoF (now) works down list Manager gets final say on one(s) DoF can get agreements for.
Bobby recently praised the recruitment team for getting the Pines deal sorted.Regarding we dont have any "football people"in transfer decisions.Well we have a full time professional recruitment team,we had Bobby at the time,we had the financial director,we had the stats team ,we have the coach and we have the board who are all involved with transfers.I'd like to add they're doing a very good job in my opinion.Onwards and upwards.
It was unfortunately left on the coach and incinerated. Norwood is still waiting for the cash to compensate him - his bitcoin wallet was held on it.
Collins is part of the ‘football people’ involved in identifying new players. However all signings, rightly so, have to be backed up with Data. Everyone at the club knows that - and it’s not different to any other club. We can afford to throw money around - did that with Oulare. But the critical thing missing here, is that maybe now Collins has identified said player, he will be tracked in preparation for a potential summer move instead.
Amazing that such a post gets 5 pages of comment. Threads on here often end up like Chinese whispers (not Japanese Whispers - that was a shi.te nightclub). Because someone has posted some 'knowledge' based on unnamed sources it gets the juices flowing from everyone with an assumption and/or axe to grind. The op might be perfectly correct or may be completely wrong. Its not in the public domain though so I dont have an idea one way or another. Because I dont have an idea I dont make assumptions about individuals or the club generally. I predict this thread will fizzle out by page 7..
I can still remember Stables. Sloping floor in bog meant you'd better not be wearing casual, absorbent footwear after midnight...
