I think we can forget top two if we fail to beat either Derby or Bolton. Win em both and it's game on!
1 away defeat in 9. It's going to be tough. They have only won 1 of their last 7 visits to Oakwell, so that's a positive.
Only team to beat us away and they did so comfortably, albeit could have been different had the ref not given them a nonsense penalty for a dive. I was worried when we played them last season at Oakwell and we smashed them. I think they're a tougher outfit than last season though and I'd honestly be quite alright with a point and then 3 against Bolton a couple of weeks on Tuesday or whenever it is.
Imperative we start switched on and don't conceed an early goal, last season we were at them from the off. They've proved much more solid this season it might be the odd goa that wins itl so patience will be key, but if we are all cylinders firing we've enough quality to beat them Reds 1 Rams 0 Phillips thunderbolt
Derby are no Man City hence they lose games and aren't already 20 points clear at the top. They're beatable just like we are. Best team will deserve to win.
If you're meaning O'Keefe's clear push in the back for the penalty then I can't agree with you. Basically a number of our players didn't turn up that day, witness the spectating when Collins(?) was the only player to attack the second ball. My view (hope?) is that, if we play as we can, we're much better than them. I just hope we can start playing when the referee blows to start the game rather than 15-20 minutes later when we're 1/2 goals behind. One benefit we should have is JW at right back as opposed to O'Keefe/Cotter. Both have their strengths (going forward but next to nothing defending) combined with JW at right defender we were an invitation for other teams to press that side. More optimistic that we'll get a result than a cuople of weeks back but, depends on the day, who knows ?....
That's fine, I don't agree that it was a clear push - hands may have been on his back but the way Collins flung himself over was pathetic, and the referee bought it. But I do fully agree with you on the rest, no idea why so many failed to turn up that day. We will need to be at it right from the start on Saturday or it could be a long afternoon.
We rarely turn up at Derby. I always say ‘never again’, but always end up going, and the result is usually the same. Best we can hope for there is to huff and puff and have our hopes raised by a near miss or a consolation goal. Bit Like Hillsborough over the decades. Couple of their fans I know won’t be relishing the trip on Saturday though. They’ll be expecting the worst. We need to be straight into them early doors and get the crowd going.
No point reading into the away game and performance, we had no Connell or Kane, and we had Russell and Watters starting, line up is significantly better this weekend.
Derby fans seem to be looking at their impressive away form - they've got 2 points more than us from 1 more game... hopefully on Sunday that's 2 more points from 2 more games!
