Yes we were lucky to get away with a replay but, just like Horsham, the second game was never in doubt. I was at both.
80/81 Ah think..wish I was going down today and that side were playing for us.... Edit..Just pipped me Brian
That was probably the best team I saw .Allan Clarke was brilliant for us but I thought Norman Hunter took us to the next level playing wise.
Didn't someone parade a camel around the field prior to the game ,or was this another game where we were described as a bunch of Camels leading up to the game in the press
100 % agree I watched us under Hunter all over the country ,including the replay at White Hart Lane where 1000s of cockneys locked out as it was a full house. One game where I did keep quiet walking bk to the car.
What I remember the most about that day against Enfield (in season '80 lol) is the bit of crowd trouble in the car park. They must have brought some trouble causers from the other bigger London clubs, because the police were scrapping with them and chasing them on the top of the cars. For me as a kid at the time, I thought it was exciting. Ohh and as for the game, yeah we kind of got away with a 1-1.
Me, three. Sadly, as we came out of the ground, some policemen were stood over a Barnsley fan who had been stabbed in the stomach.
Ouch. We arrived late (from Cambridge due to work) and went in the first turnstile we came to and it was full of Spurs fans. Had to keep schtumm.
