Can’t sleep & currently spending my time looking at all the top sides in league one’s fixtures. I’m confident we’ll get 2nd & we could even win the league. In our 13 games we play 7 of the bottom 10. The others are Lincoln & Northampton at home & then the obviously massive games against Stevenage, Bolton & Pompey. We’ve also got Blackpool away in the penultimate game of the season which could end up being a dead rubber for them if their play off hopes end just before it. Derby’s got a decent set of fixtures too. They only play 3 of the top 7 like us. Bolton & Pompey have it tougher with both having to play 5 of the top 7 in their remaining games.
Doesn't mean a thing tbh. After so many years following Barnsley the number 1 rule is expect a Champions League performance against a high flying side, but expect to be brought back down to earth with a feeble loss against a team that couldn't score in a brothel the week after.
Personally, I think Pompey will win the league but we have every chance of second. Blackpool I suspect will sneak into the Play offs and our game there could be huge for both of us.
If and it’s a big if, there’s a chance of promotion at Blackpool on the penultimate weekend of the season then demand for tickets is going to be ridiculous. A lot (myself included) will have already booked hotels for the weekend, if Blackpool have a chance of getting into the Play-offs and we have a change of automatics going in to that then let’s hope Sky don’t mess about with the date of the fixture….
I know loads who don’t even go regularly who are talking about staying in Blackpool that weekend. It’ll be brilliant if Blackpool & Northampton’s seasons are over before we play them.
I just thought it was interesting as there’s been a lot of talk on here that we struggle against better sides & could only win against sides in the bottom half.
Derby’s run in looks the easier one out of the top four. Bolton’s is terrible. Don’t rule out Posh either, theirs looks the easiest of the lot.
This site backs up about the fixtures. Pompey’s run in looks by far the worst looking at this but I still expect them top 2. Although strange things do happen towards the end of the season. https://www.soccerstats.com/table.asp?league=england3&tid=10 I still think our home defeats to Pompey, Oxford, Peterborough and Blackpool will stop us getting top 2 but in fairness our away form all season and our form recently has given us a massive chance at it. Beat Bolton at home and I may start to become a believer of the automatics.
I never commented on the issue at the time. But tbf. It was the case. Lost early games to Pompey. Derby. Posh. Oxford and Blackpool. 4 of em at home.
