33 games 63 points and a goal difference of +23 Last year 33 games 63 points and a goal difference of +23. Funny old game as someone said
The last 13 games last season: W:7 D:2 L:4 Points:23 - Final Total: 86 The 13 games we've just played this season: W:8 D:4 L:1 Points: 28 - If we repeat that we'll have a total of 91 - That should do it
25th Feb last year, interesting to see we had the same outfield lineup v Derby, save McAtee in for Norwood. Comparing this year to last, apart from Mads, I'd much rather have yesterday's team and sense we're building momentum, as opposed to losing it https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64686127
Not exactly sure what you mean with same outfield bar MaCatee. Earl. Pines just 2 more I can think of without looking at last years team. You even mention Mads. Edit, looking at your link. 5 of last yrs team (inc. Isted) are not here anymore. Av I missed summat. I often do.
Yeah. Sorry the confusion Hooky - I'm not great on technicalities & thought outfield excluded the defence As the gaffer said yesterday, Pines gives us a lift with his stature at the back - as we saw with Dike, opponents bounce off him too & I would rather have Pines than Bobby Thomas for our visit to Wycombe this Saturday. Then I rate Earl higher than Kitching & full confidence in Roberts. As I said before, I do miss Mads but that's nothing new with me
I know I'm being a little forward in my thinking. But this lad Earl. Looks the biz. Did like Mads btw. And would get a place.
I can see why people think we're right back in it, but the stats rarely lie. The auto teams need to be averaging more than 2 points a game by this stage, and we're just short of that. I feel confident of a top 6 spot, but I think we'll fall short of top 2.
And MLH had a better squad at his disposal last season...But hey just wait for the next defeat and the Collins out brigade will be more vocal again.
Before fleetwood game I thought we would win at least 10 of our remaining matches. That's 2 already. I think we will get minimum 90 points. Will it be enough for 2nd
Agree. In many ways, we should have done better with that squad last year. Collins has done the same, with an entire new back line, keeper and main Defensive midfielder missing half a season….
But if you look at Jay's post above, over the last 13 games we HAVE exceeded 2 ppg, despite a mini wobble. Whereas last season over the same period we were below that benchmark.
I feel more confident that we will finish this seasons run in better than last season and we will take that 2nd spot. Kane Connell and Phillips now hitting form at the right time and have played together now as a three for long enough that they know each others game inside out.. Williams in his best position, in Roberts we have a better keeper than Isted and the defence is now as good as last season if not better. Cole is playing his best football of his career and we have good quality support in the squad. Collins is now making all the right decisions in team selection and positions. The team morale and togetherness looks as good as it gets and the supporters are getting noisy again. Exciting few months ahead.
Not sure we can say that given we've only had 1 clean sheet in 14 mate. 2 of last seasons defenders are playing in a side a league above hoping to get into playoffs again, and the other is in the premier league, who I believe would have been a regular had it not been for injury. Hopefully by the end of the season when MDG, Earl & Pines have played together we can make that argument but certainly not yet mate. Completely agree with the rest of your assessment though.
